The EU and its Member States remain the world’s largest and most reliable donors of humanitarian aid.
Today, we are presenting our new approach to humanitarian diplomacy.
We will make better use of every tool at our disposal to safeguard aid delivery, secure humanitarian access, protect civilians, and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
It will also help ensure that humanitarian issues are front and centre in our external action.

This is Nikopol, a city in Ukraine where civilians are being hunted by drones. I investigated how russians are now launching those drones FROM Europe's largest nuclear power plant at the other side of the river. Russian aggression puts the entire planet at risk of nuclear disaster, it doesn't just stop at the borders of Ukraine.
Since the Zaporizhzhia NPP was stormed, theres been almost zero international news coverage of the site, yet every day the situation deteriorates. The same soviet system of lies that led to the Chornobyl disaster is now running a nuclear facility twice the size. Every single environmental agency needs to start calling out the russian threat to our planet.
The plant is now running on diesel generators that can fail at any moment. They have already failed 15 times since the full-scale invasion. This is Chornobyl on steroids.
Whatever your views on the war in Ukraine, a nuclear disaster here doesn’t respect borders. It doesn’t care about your politics. What's happening in Nikopol is a warning.

Italian PM Meloni:
If you do not know how to defend yourself, if you ask someone else to guarantee your security, you will pay for it in terms of autonomy, sovereignty, and the ability to defend your national interests.
Defense spending is the price of freedom, and I want Italy to be a free nation.

Very unusual to see article in a respected 🇷🇺 publication arguing that the aims set by Putin for his war are unachievable. I’m certain there has been much discussion before deciding to publish, and this reflects the new doubts starting to dominate Moscow. globalaffairs.ru/articles/chugu…

NATO will strengthen defence of eastern flank with new structure that would facilitate rapid deployment of forces in Latvia and Estonia in the event of a war with Russia, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Everybody knows that, before elected President of Ukraine, @ZelenskyyUa was a famous comic actor. (In fact, perhaps the most famous comic actor not only in Ukraine, but in Russia as well.) What's less known is that he has a genuinely fine sense of humor even as a war-time president. Today, he recalled Belarus strongman Lukashenka's grand-standing suggestion that "President of Ukraine should meet President of Belarus" and immideately turned to @Tsihanouskaya, who won the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus but was forced out of the country by Lukashenka's regime. That's both fine diplomacy and a genuinely light moment.
