Realistically, I think tolls going to Iran's cleanup short term might help with an agreement. Require Israel to compensate for costs of disproportionate destruction. If you want fewer wars, insist on Israel and US alliance pausing for reassessment of foreignrelations, Israel declaring its nuclear arsenal and related agreements, and declare official borders. Otherwise, expect their reach of influence to continue to spread. Help clean the wound so it can begin to heal.

Yesterday, I spoke with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, as well as with U.S. President Donald Trump. I urged the resumption of the negotiations suspended in Islamabad, the clearing up of misunderstandings, and the avoidance of any further escalation. It is essential, in particular, that the ceasefire be strictly respected by all parties and that it include Lebanon. It is equally important that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened unconditionally, without restrictions or tolls, as soon as possible. Under these conditions, negotiations should be able to resume quickly, with the support of the key parties concerned. France and the United Kingdom will also host a conference in Paris this Friday, bringing together by videoconference non-belligerent countries ready to contribute, alongside us, to a multilateral and purely defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the strait when security conditions allow.

Tanker (red) and container (green) ship traffic in the area of the Strait of Hormuz during the first 24 hours of President Donald J. Trump's naval blockade of Iran from MarineTraffic.com shows a handful of vessels made the transit through the Strait and a substantial decline in traffic inbound to Iranian ports.

Did you know that, contrary to popular belief, the MiG-25 wasn't built to chase the XB-70 Valkyrie, but to intercept the CIA’s high-flying A-12 Oxcart? It was an incredible piece of kit, a 60,000 lb beast of stainless steel designed to hit Mach 3.2 and reach altitudes few other jets could touch. However, with its Smerch-A “point-and-shoot” radar and Tumansky R-15 engines that risked melting under pressure, it struggled to reach its full potential. It was a speed demon, yes, but it never quite managed to fulfill its intended purpose: intercepting an A-12 or its SR-71 Blackbird cousin.

@WarMonitor3 only thinks short term and does not understand strategic risk, only thinks operational at best. And even oil drilling is not short term. Long term is controlling carbon level so the UK actually exists by the end of the century. At this rate of carbon production, UK and EU will probably have massive food issues if we turn back to carbon.

A blockade collapses Iran's imports to zero because there's no cash from oil exports to pay for anything. It sends Iran's currency into a devaluation spiral and the economy into hyperinflation. There's pros and cons to a blockade, but the pros dominate... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/pros-and-con…

@AmbDennisRoss Here’s how it’s actually gonna go. We can’t get in range to perform a blockade because it places us within range or carrier-killer missile barrages. In the event we harm or prevent a single ship, the Iranian proxies, the Houthis, shut down bab-el-mandeb. Then the world is fucked

The blockade always made more sense than seizing Kharg Island. It stops Iran’s exports, its revenues, is a counterpoint to their closing the Straits. They may attack Gulf oil facilities but it puts greater pressure on Iran. It also puts great pressure on China to pressure Iran.

As well, OG-9 projected grenades are converted into “OG-B1” drone munitions with a molded tail fin. The fuze has been modified to bypass the acceleration setback arming, and a new safety pin fitted. The pin is tethered to the ground and gets pulled off as the drone launches.

Taking the ceasefire at face value, I’ll give a brief overview of what happened during these 40 days of war and how Trump won—and won so big it blew all of us away: - The war isn’t over. A ceasefire doesn’t mean peace; - Ayatollah Khamenei has been eliminated, along with a few dozen other leaders of the Revolutionary Guards—the Islamic Revolution’s terrorist group. All of them are despicable criminals. No one is mourning them or feeling sorry for them; - Iran now controls the Strait of Hormuz. It did not before February 28 (when the war began). It used this leverage in negotiations with Trump and secured acceptance of their 10-point plan (you will see these terms are very favorable to Iran) to be the basis of 2 weeks negociations; - The U.S. has used between 10 and 55% (depending on the weaponry) of its stockpiles of stand-off munitions, which are essential for deterring China, and (it is estimated) even more of the interceptor missiles that are exceptionally important for protecting civilians in Ukraine. China is laughing; - Russia benefits from the lifting of sanctions on oil transported by sea. Putin is more than happy; - Iran benefits from the lifting of sanctions on its oil transported by sea. The regime’s new leaders are delighted; - The theocratic regime of the Islamic Revolution has NOT been changed. In fact, the terrorist, criminal leaders who were removed have been replaced by others whom experts there tell us are even more radical (if that’s even possible) and even tougher and crueler; - The Iranian people are not free. Right? I want us to focus on this fact. The Iranian people, who should have been placed at the center of this conflict as the top priority, have been abandoned. Moreover, they feel betrayed by Trump; - The crisis caused by this war, which, as you can see from the points above, has brought no significant benefits, will be felt for many months to come, most likely throughout the year—and here I am referring to the IT industry, agriculture, and the energy sector. China is the long-term winner in the energy sector because it will weather this shock, because it is investing heavily in green energy, and because the IT industries in South Korea and Taiwan will be hit by the helium crisis, which gives them time to further narrow the technological gap with the West. Europe is the big loser due to its energy dependencies and the stalling of green energy investment programs in recent years. - The 400-odd kilograms of enriched uranium are exactly where they were before the war began; - NATO is going through the biggest internal crisis in its history due to the start of this war and Trump’s insults and threats. It’s also facing a crisis of confidence in its very essence, Article 5, which I don’t see how it will overcome in the near future, if ever; - The economies of the Gulf states have been disrupted and—in part—damaged over the medium and long term; ---- Don’t you feel like winners? Especially when we’re pumping 2 euro+/litre worth of diesel into the tank and we’ll see the fall announcements with inflation at 12–14% or who knows how much. If this is a Trump victory, I don’t want to know what a defeat looks like. If you’ve made it this far, I don’t want to let you forget that the war isn’t over yet.
