It has been an immense honor to serve as a DNDi Board member for the past 12 years. As my third and final term concludes after this board meeting, I reflect on what has been nothing short of an epic journey, one marked by collective purpose, bold decisions, and transformative impact. Never let a good crisis go to waste and more often than not, crisis and adversity is a privelege with ample opportunities. Take for example in hepatitis C. At the 2016 retreat in Divonne, heated debates led to a groudbreaking decision, where DNDi would not only tackle neglected diseases but also neglected patients, ensuring access, affordability, and equity. What good is a breakthrough treatment, if it remains out of reach for those who need it most. For me, hepatitis C was more than policy decision, it was personal journey. Leading Malaysia’s Ministry of Health, I witnessed the power of implementation and made several critical policy decisions, from decentralised of care from hospitals to Community Clinics, to the urgency of finding the “missing millions,” and the lifesaving impact of elimination of hepatitis initiatives aligned with the mission of WHO by 2030. DNDi’s journey is like a bus ride, the founding partners were the first to board, and many have since gotten off. Along the way, new members have joined, keeping the mission alive and moving forward. After more than two decades, the torch is passing from one generation to the next. My stop is approaching, but I take comfort in knowing that the journey will continue.

they are house slippers! the style is known as a prince albert slipper, named after queen victoria's consort, prince albert. black tie was originally worn for dinner, so the velvet slipper was worn when hosting dinner parties at home. today, they are acceptable as part of a black tie uniform, even if the velvet slipper gives the outfit a more relaxed feel.

I’m really delighted to share that I am to be appointed King’s Counsel. To quote the very exciting letter I received yesterday: “I am pleased to be writing to you on behalf of the Lord Chancellor, The Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, to let you know that The King has approved her recommendation that you should be appointed one of His Majesty’s Counsel.” Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, including my wonderful colleagues, clerks, clients and family. A hearty congratulations to the other 104 new silks. The provisional date for the appointment is 24 March. kcappointments.org/wp-content/upl…

On the £175 tickets at Lord's for the India Test next summer. Assuming most days see 80 overs, that's £2.18 an over or 36p a ball. Or if we really want to get into the economics, 1 pack of Parma Violets per delivery.

I think this slow movement in his 6th symphony is my favourite bit of Mahler. Better than the adagietto in the 5th. #BBCProms
