@LonelyGoomba Well for some people I’d imagine it’s to try to recreate the look of what they remember from on a CRT and how the screen would re-create a smoothed effect, but it’s never the same. I imagine some day someone will actually make a good CRT style smoothing filter…some day…

@kinsie i also think that part of the reason matchingmaking has replaced server browsers overtime is that most games are designed around competitive nowadays there aren't really a ton of multiplayer games now where you can just drop in and drop out in the middle of a round like tf2

@kinsie i don't see this nearly as much when playing on games with server browsers nowadays and i think we would've found more ways to deal with this overtime if they hadn't been displaced by matchmaking systems

And then you click on any given one of them and it's lying about the player count & ping, has donator benefit plugins so one guy has 4 sentries out at once, and keeps abusing the MOTD system to bring up pop-up ads mid-game. Community servers didn't die, they killed themselves.
