Transparency and accountability are essential, and the Department of Correction is conducting an investigation. While we do not yet know the cause of death, too many have died on Rikers Island for far too long. Rikers must close, and we will pursue every avenue to do so as quickly as possible.

Life is like a vapor, the bible says. How you choose to live in it & what you leave behind speaks volumes. My mom, for whom we had a Celebration Of Life Service today, was an absolute fighter! Through diabetes, breast cancer, 3 strokes & a fractured hip that shut her body & motor skills down for a bit, but with the help of the Lord, she fought them all off, though movement slowed a bit. So from my father & my mom, fighter, is n me a my sibliging DNA Jack!
