@BillBishopKHOU I love the cloverleaf and also know firsthand it's not pedestrian-friendly — there's gotta be a way to have both.

The Memorial Drive at Waugh cloverleaf is one of my favorite drives in Houston. I love the loops and the landscaping in each circle. And the bluebonnets around them in the spring.
🌈Prioritize people over cars@gratifihouston

Huge news! We all know Waugh from Washington to Allen Parkway is awful, especially that cloverleaf. It's going away! I don't see the Jackson Hill pedestrian bridge included but let's see if we can get it added to this project. communityimpact.com/houston/height…

@HandPouredInHTX @mattlanza @breathingin2016 Do we know whether nested outages are accounted for in their restoration numbers? Seems like a major data point; anecdotally, I know many people who are still without power but are in "energized" areas.

Do these restoration numbers reflect nested outages? CenterPoint claims a transformer for my apt building is my complex's equipment problem; a third-party electrician confirmed it's CenterPoint's problem. (This happened during Uri, and it was definitely CenterPoint's problem!)

We are grateful to our crews whose tremendous efforts have resulted in getting the lights back on for 80% of our impacted customers and at a pace faster than we previously expected. We know there is more work to be done and are laser-focused on restoring our remaining impacted customers as safely and quickly as possible. Post-#Beryl views of 1) Buffalo Bayou and 2) Allen Parkway immediately west of Studemont/Montrose. We lost power at 7:51 a.m.; fingers crossed for smooth @CenterPoint restoration especially as we're hosting our niece and nephew from California!

@christhedunn @ChrisOttoLNP I think making it a federal holiday helps a lot of people - including many in low wages. I admit it can hurt/not help someone like a substitute teacher or retail worker. But I think other processes help them too. We just have to better advertise those.

Election Day should be a federal holiday.

@christhedunn @jsprenk So, to be clear, you do not favor signature match, two utility bills, a federal ID card and two character witnesses being required in order to vote?

@jsprenk @ChrisOttoLNP In principle, sure; in practice, I'm skeptical. In Harris County in 2020, we had one day of early voting that was 24 hours. Third-shift workers, among many others, got to vote for the first time. Access needs to be increased, but in ways designed for disenfranchised folks.

@ChrisOttoLNP To be clear, this is why I'm conflicted on LNY (and other holidays specific to communities with significant percentage in low-wage/service jobs) becoming a recognized holiday — how do we ensure they reap the benefits of that protected time when their jobs offer little protection?

@ChrisOttoLNP How would we ensure people who get time off actually vote (versus just taking the day or a long weekend)? What about the low-wage/service workers who always have to work federal holidays?

Just an update that we have had steady power since Friday PM. Very grateful that our apartment front office has been so diligent about getting CenterPoint to fix faulty transformers and keeping residents updated when every other entity has failed on acting and communicating.
Chris Dunn@christhedunn

Hey @CNPalerts, we entered our meter number and your system says we have power — but we kindly disagree. (Yes, we have checked our circuit breaker.) Please add us to your 115k customers without power.

@pfal @CNPalerts Our apartment office emailed this morning that @energyinsights is looking into transformers that blew last night — and that apparently they had been working on a few days ago?! First confirmation of a hyperlocal situation; meanwhile, upstairs and downstairs neighbors have power.

Hey @CNPalerts, our appointment complex is on its second cycle of rolling power — and this is the second time our apartment unit has been SKIPPED. No power since Tues 10:30am. Maintenance says this is on you. Can you get us online with the rest of our complex? #77019
