It shouldn’t be the job of people with disabilities to fight for their rights and explain the law in order to get what they are legally entitled to. Customers services lines such as “unfortunately we can’t…” are just embarrassing in these situations.

There’s a video going around of @STOnStage initially refusing reasonable adjustments so that a deaf audience member can enjoy the show. Honestly, it’s just pathetic from @SFP_London and ATG – this isn’t a new show, and both should know what their legal obligations are by now.

@HeldinEU It helps people to get up. It’s highly likely not to prevent sleeping but to enable people to use it in the first place.

No, that's exactly not how it works. A lot of wheelchairs don't even have brakes or have brakes in their power system, often you just put your hands on the push ring to stop the wheelchair from rolling away. Keeping a distance from the edge and positioning away from the wind flow is the solution.

@Christiane @JohnTillUK Presumably if you are not braked on a platform, the slipstream from a passing train, especially a 75mile/h intermodal, could blow you along ISTR RSSB has a study on this

Revisiting this, on a long distance train and within 3 minutes of leaving origin there’s 3 separate announcements: 1) Telling me about CCTV, 2) Telling me to treat the staff with respect ( why do we assume most wouldn’t ) 3, See it, Say it.. That’s before the calling points.

DfT has rejected the premise of a select committee inquiry that rail investment has been subject to systemic ‘boom and bust’, other than for rolling stock. DfT says it’s just a perception with no evidence. Fair to say the transport select committee isn’t impressed.

@JohnTillUK I just find it a bit weird. I really don’t need advice by non-wheelchair users how to stand on a platform after 40+ years of using one. Also it’s not a pram which is muddled in the same announcement.

@Christiane We were asked to do this by our safety team, I’m sure there was good reason for them doing so but I’m more than happy to take this away and look at it again.

I booked a home visit for ear wax removal for my now housebound 92 y o mother. It was clearly a call centre that acts for multiple companies. I was dismayed by the poor english of the call handler. They sent a locksmith this morning. I just despair 😩
