I’ve noticed a team has started using the phrase “we’re all adults here.”
It comes up whenever expectations are mentioned.
Today someone said it right after I clarified a policy.
The room went quiet.
I asked what they meant by it.
They said it means they don’t need to be reminded how to behave.
I said reminders aren’t about behavior, they’re about consistency.
They said consistency doesn’t require supervision.
That felt like a philosophical disagreement.
I reminded them that alignment still needs facilitation.
They nodded, but not in a way that suggested agreement.
I'm literally shaking right now.
@AAACares my area. So, I did as instructed and had the service done at an AAA authorized facility, and you wont' reimburse me for the out-of-pocket cost. Therefore, your service has been cancelled. (2/2)
@AAACares your service has gotten progressively worse in the last ten years. If I'm paying for a mobile battery replacement service as part of my membership, I expect to get that when my battery starts failing. Instead, you said there was no mobile battery replacement in (1/2)
Why is no one else on my team on this morning’s 9am standup call today?
Yea, I think it’s time for another round of layoffs.
This is what you get when you hire remote workers.
@SmileSoftware It would be awesome if the desktop app (Windows 10) stopped breaking and the only way to fix it is a complete removal and then reinstall. which is a temporary fix.
Well I don’t have an appendix anymore (it was just weighing me down anyway 😅)
Not quite how I expected to spend my Monday.
I woke up yesterday with a pain in my abdomen.
Figured it was indigestion or a sore muscle.
But it got worse as the day went on.
Here's what happened..
@Adam_Karpiak "We are looking for someone interested in a long-term position within our company that can grow with us." It sounds like another way of saying "our organization is like family" (a toxic one).
