@KSIXI Don't overlook the Jets getting a 2025 (likely) third-round comp pick for Huff.
Essentially just swapped out Huff for Reddick and moved a Day 2 pick up a year, likely for less gtd money next season.
If the pick becomes a 2, it will be worth the 10+ sacks, def won't hit snap %.

The Jets essentially trade a younger Bryce Huff and a 2nd/3rd pick to the Eagles for an older Haason Reddick and probably pay him an equivalent or higher amount than what Huff got.

Assuming the #Jazz also wanted Barrett (pre-extension) with those three unprotected picks, the #Knicks were smart not to bite.
If the #Jazz wanted literally any other combination of players with those three unprotected picks, shame on the #Knicks.
We may never know.

In some previous talks with Utah, Knicks had been unwilling to give up three unprotected first-round picks in a package for Donovan Mitchell. Per ESPN, Cavs landed Mitchell for a package that includes three unprotected first round picks and two first round pick swaps.

Knicks could have got deal done wo RJ, obi/grimes/quick types are close enough to Sexton, this was about picks knicks keep protectong. Nevet EVER getting a star anymore for 2 unprotected 1sts , markey is 3-4 now

Is it too soon to say that the Knicks did the right thing here not caving in for Donovan Mitchell? Hard to pass on a star on the market - particularly a high-scoring one from NY - but if it was going to cost Barrett and Ainge demanding a bucket of picks, too high a price.

@paulie23ny @nyknicks 14-24 is a wide range, it's really more like 10-17. No guarantee Knicks avoid the play-in with Mitchell (which I vaguely remember you agreeing with), which means they could be in the lotto pretty easily.

@paulie23ny They do. Honestly a great deal for Cleveland. They traded expendable players/weird fits along with three likely late 1s for Mitchell. The Knicks weren't beating this package without including RJ and three unprotected 1s.

Anyome praising him is foolish, preserving young players that are backups & draft picks they have no interest in making. Utah got a fair deal from Clev, knicks refused to meet that fair deal. Rose was brought here as a power broker to land stars, hes landed none!!

Leon will be praised for holding the line & perhaps he should. But rightly or wrongly, there will now be a lot of added pressure to show that one way or another, he was right to bypass this chance. RJ’s growth will obviously play a huge part, as will what else he does before camp

@paulie23ny Any amount of picks without RJ. Zero chance that offer gets it done though. They got that from Cleveland with Sexton, Lauri and Agbaji (first rounder this year). Sexton alone is better than Obi and Grimes, then essentially extra 1. Besides RJ we just didn't have enough to offer.

@christripodi I vaguely remenber you saying you were ok giving up pretty much anything to get him. I tbink obi & grimes, 3 unprotected & 2 swaps gets it done. Grimes had no place to start or barely get good mins w trio of jalen, Donovan & RJ & Obi rotting on bench for another few years

@paulie23ny @nyknicks 4 unprotected picks from a 6-8 seed at best, woof. That's a lot of risk of being bad in 2027 and 2029 without a championship-level reward. This is Donovan Mitchell, an All-Star reserve at best. Not a Batman. No Batman = no title.
