@levelsio @brian_lovin That's so true. Migrated from AWS to Hetzner last year and my sever costs reduced from $800 to $20 for a project AWS ElastiCache costs alone can buy me 20 Hetzner server where I can install redis in Docker container and use for free.

I get 4,150,000,000 (4 billion) requests and 300,000,000 (300 million) visitors per year That'd cost me $338,913 if I wasn't on a VPS like @brian_lovin below Instead I pay $2,932/year or 115x less because I host my sites on my own VPS My VPS servers are way too big and usually only use 10% of their resources so I could even go with $300/year probably if I optimized more (but I don't care) Especially with AI these days it's easier than ever to host your sites yourself, and way cheaper! 100-1000x cheaper!

@dhh Thank you, sir! I switched my little projects from AWS to a VPS after following your suggestions, and my server bills have dropped from $800 down to just $80 😆

In 2023, we spent $3,934,099 on AWS + other hosting. In 2026, our hosting + support bill is down to ~$1m/year due to the cloud exit. Even including all the hardware buying, we will already have saved ~$4m by the end of this year. And going forward, it's ~$3m/yr in savings 🤑
