@OrevaZSN I'd rather do a small amount of cleaning than have to deal with other people staying at the hotel being obnoxious at all hours of the night.

Airbnb hosts are online complaining that people aren’t booking with them anymore. Why would I pay a cleaning fee and still be expected to clean the place before I check out when I could be at a hotel enjoying the view, daily housekeeping, and room service instead?

You don’t want this kid in prison, that will ruin his life. Which is worse than anything he would inflict on anyone with the bike. But you can’t optimize for that without making life much less safe for everyone else. I think the answer here is probably something like caning. I realize it’s barbaric, but you gotta nip this stuff in the bud in a way that he will never forget, but also won’t ruin his life. There’s probably a less barbaric middle ground here. But clearly he’s not nearly as afraid of the consequences as he should be.

How do you punish this behaviour? Its reckless and antisocial, but prison would obviously be excessive. Our other options - community service, fines etc. - he would probably laugh off and ignore. Maybe we need to bring back the stocks...

@camsoft2000 I can manage 2 or 3 and find any more just becomes annoying. I use Claude Code CLI and name the sessions so the tabs make it obvious which one I'm on.

I must be the only person that really can’t manage more than one agent. I keep entering prompts into the wrong agent which totally confuses the agent. I need an agent to prompt my agents to prompt my agents’s agents.

@richgel999 I use Claude Code daily, usually 8 hours a day. There is no way I could be as productive as I am right now without it. It absolutely removes the drudgery.

I would love to know how many programmers have actually sat down and seriously used Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc. There is no way I can see software companies NOT using tools like this. Much of real programming on large codebases is pure drudgery, which AI tools can help with.

@DanielGlejzner It was always broken. You'd get asked questions about things you'll never do or could easily google. It got worse once interviews became leetcode puzzles. I interview to see how people think and if they'd fit personally with the team. All the rest can be learned.

Software hiring has become absurd. At work, you’re expected to use AI to offload manual coding and move faster. Then, to get your next contract, you’re asked to code from memory with no assistance. Pass the interview - and you’re expected to use AI again. It has never been this broken.

just remember, some kid in college with multiple Claude Code subscriptions using Fable 5 is producing more code in the past few weeks than you ever have in your entire 10+ software career.

@LuizaJarovsky I'm not dismissing anything outright just because of the source. I'm only reading/watching/listening to things that I find interesting. I've seen garbage in those three categories generated by humans.

Would you still read a book if you discovered it was AI-generated? Would you still watch a movie if you discovered it was AI-generated? Would you still listen to a podcast if you discovered it was AI-generated?

@IamAroke Most "founders" are just grifters taking the shortcut AI provides to steal money from investors while flooding the market with utter garbage no one wants.

Drop the most controversial opinion you have about AI in tech right now. I'll go first. Most AI startups won't exist in 3 years.

@plainionist I learned to code when we had to number our lines and had no IDE - somehow developers who came along after that struggle managed to become seniors. The work changes, people will adapt.

Serious question: If junior developers skip the struggle because AI does the work, where will the next generation of seniors come from? 🤔
