Over-the-shoulder catch, Jalen Davis weaves through two Columbia River defenders at halfcourt. After catching the pass from Aaron Matthews, Jalen takes four dribbles to cover the distance to the basket before making a driving, contested shot at the buzzer for a 1-point overtime victory.
Bremerton still alive in its Drive for a Repeat.
From @springsteen :
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
Stay free, Bruce Springsteen

@UW_MBB raises Christian Welp’s #40 to the rafters. Brings back memories of the friendly 7-footer from Germany and Olympic High’s 1982 season. He was turned on to the outdoors and loved crabbing and spending time along the shores of Hood Canal. Welp signed with UW before the start of his only season at Olympic. Missed first 2 games, waiting for @WIAA to OK his eligibility. He had 28 pts, 28 rebs in his U. S. debut vs Bremerton. Welp made it look so easy and he was always at his best in big games. During district tournament he had 9 blocks vs Gig Harbor and 31 pts, 22 rebs, 5 blocks, 4 steals vs Washington. Had 31 pts, 19 rebs vs Cheney in a 50-32 semifinal win. With a torn ligament on his shooting hand in 2A title game he had 20 pts, 19 rebs in 54-51 4OT win over Centralia, which was led by another German import, 6-8 Thomas Deuster. I dusted off the archives of The Bremerton Sun to confirm the numbers. Welp fit right in as a freshman at UW, starting with Detlef, Al Vaughn, Paul Fortier and Shag Williams on a team that won the PAC-10 and reached the Sweet 16.
@UW_MBB coach Danny Sprinkle is putting on the full-court press. He stopped by to see Jalen Davis again and this time he brought a bunch of his UW players. They watched @I_hoop360ja score 34 points in Bremerton's 67-55 win at 4A Kennedy. Brandon Roy and Donald Watts Jr. among those in the crowd to watch a special player. Defending 2A state champion Knights (9-0) have 2 more tough tests coming up: at 3A power Eastside Catholic on Jan. 3 and vs. 4A force Glacier Peak on Jan. 19 at SPU.
