Over 70% of England's water infrastructure is owned by foreign governments, overseas pension funds and international investors.
Your water comes from the ground beneath England.
The profits leave the country.
Northumbrian Water: owned by Hong Kong and a New York investment firm.
Yorkshire Water: owned by Hong Kong and the Singapore government.
Wessex Water: owned by a Malaysian billionaire's family.
Southern Water: owned by Australian asset managers and US investors.
Thames Water: owned by Canada, Abu Dhabi, China and Australia. £20 billion in debt. Sewage in your rivers.
Only Severn Trent, United Utilities and South West Water are listed on the London Stock Exchange.

@Alex_Oloyede2 What’s the difference between Israel 🇮🇱 and Russia 🇷🇺? Both have been accused of causing immense human suffering and bloodshed. The only difference is that Ukraine can at least fight back and launch counterattacks in its defense. Thankfully, it has the ability to respond.
We're entering science-fiction territory with these numbers. England forecast ~16°C above average. Potentially 5–6°C above the previous June record.
Records falling by several °C at once suggest we are witnessing something far outside the climate many of us grew up with.
These weird circle roads seem inefficient
What if we just let people drive straight through instead of slowing down to drive around a curve?
Could even put up some sort of signal telling people when to stop to allow people coming from the other direction to pass
The Pope just declared food, water, and healthcare are basic human rights that should not be commodified.
He also urged the world to prioritize feeding the hungry over funding wars.
In a world that’s being devoured by capitalist greed, a Pope with socialist leanings is welcome.
@BladeoftheS The one thing we can agree on. I'm still not a commie tho. Corruption is both on the left and the right. This was a prime example of corrupt policy to benefit friends.
The UK is only in debt because it Privatised everything.
If Margaret Thatcher had never existed and we never privatised Oil, Gas, Electricity, Airports, Water, Mail, Rail, Rolls Royce, British Airways...
We would have Trillions of Pounds and own everything, just like Norway.
@AlexTaylorNews@thetimes Poland is an anti EU country. It blocked mass migration and it's flourishing. You got you stooge in power through corruption. Let's see how long it lasts.
Fascinating piece in today's @thetimes on how Poles with their booming economy are taking over the Spanish costas, replacing Brits who've left faced with rules for non-EU
We meet Roger and Carol who, after voting Brexit "without thinking it through properly"🤡sold up their Spanish dream home and "are stuck back in Luton"
However, they don't seem to have learnt from "the worst decision we ever made" voting Brexit, as both plan to vote Reform at the next election
Of course they do🤡
After spending the day out on the water, it's so damn convenient just to ride that airboat right up on land and straight onto the trailer. No fuss, no drama, just load up and head home. Pure American practicality at its finest! 🇺🇸⚓🚤
@ProudSocialist capitalism is the natural extension of voluntary exchange. Been around since the dawn of time. Capitalism hasn't failed. Rather our banks have been captured by private enterprise. This has destroyed capitalism and democracy. Remove central banks & we're all better off.
Clara Mattei brilliantly debunks a century of capitalist propaganda by explaining how capitalism is unnatural, has existed for only 0.1% of human history, took control of the world through violence, and is maintained by coercion and the superficial facade of liberal democracy.
@Boldyboy1975 I had a coup as a kid. Got annihilated by a fox 1 night all dead but 1 super hen. It had found horse steroids and got jacked. Anyway, I recall I put food out 4 my dog & The chicken chased my dog. I watched as my dog processed the situation and then bit the head off that hen. 😂
I’m past anger now!!!
I’m just confused.
How the hell can people see what’s happening to this country and still vote Labour Party?
What am I missing? 🤷♂️
@PetGoatAlfred If Islam is the tree, then why do nearly 2 billion Muslims live peacefully while extremists remain a tiny minority? You can quote a text. The real question is whether you're quoting it honestly, in context, and the way mainstream Muslims have understood it for centuries.
Many people hate Islam without ever studying it.
They judge a religion of nearly 2 billion people by the actions of its worst followers.
Islam is not a scary religion.
It is a beautiful religion that many would love if they approached it with an open heart instead of inherited fear.
@Bulvarpress It's not violence. Look at it. You can't confuse that with violence unless you've never seen violence. What are people going on about? She's teaching him a valuable lesson. He's crying because he didn't get the outcome he wanted, not because he's in pain.
@BladeoftheS UK welfare bill surpasses tax receipts! The average working family is paying 60% tax to support the dossers. The birth rate has declined; when you ask people why, it's likely they can't afford them or don't have the time to enjoy raising kids. Our current Welfare sys is a scam
@LizWebsterSBF Britain used to have the tightest controls on food additives in the world. In the age of cancer this could have had a significant impact. This fell apart when we joined the EU. We now have much more additives thanks to the EU. You win some you lose some.
😢 🇫🇷 I’m currently in France, feeling sad about what Britain lost thanks to Brexit.
This 👇 is what easy access to the Single Market looks like.
Britain used to have shelves and markets like this.
Brexit added barriers, paperwork, delays and costs, reducing choice, variety and quality for many everyday foods.
We gave up frictionless trade with our closest neighbours. The contrast is stark.
I want my country back.
