‼️We have recently received the most desired/awaited material of the lab! We have been waiting for 6 month for its delivery to our lab! We use 15N2 for the measurement of N2 fixation in sediments of an upwelling influenced lagoon in the Baja California peninsula🌊🧪

There’s still time. There are species that are gone forever, and the chemistry of the ocean has changed, the ecosystems are damaged, but we can stabilize things to prevent further damage. We can and we must.

Laboratory work🧪🥼. We collected sediment cores and procesed them to measure denitrification, anammox, DNRA and other no-canonical N removal rates. The glove box is to maintain anoxic conditions🧤.

🌊We meet each Monday to discuss publications or activities related to our research lines. Yesterday, Dr. Camacho showed us all the work done by the group in San Quintín Bay, Baja California. 📉N dynamics is strongly related to the upwelling, tides, seagrass and oyster cultures.

We're focused on the projects N cycling in marine sediments: - canonical (and not) in an upwelling influenced coastal lagoon with oyster aquaculture. - Phyto Blooms within a Loop Current Eddy studying inorganic nutrients, DOC/DON dynamics in shallow and deep marine ecosystems.
