There doesn’t need to be any, that’s just how it is, There’s only so much money to spend and only so much time in the day. Taking care of people is not any governments priority. The priority is to govern. And governing means an infinite list of things to do. Unless you want a totalitarian/communist regime, it’s not practical. Outside of the impracticality of it, no one should want to live off of government assistance anyway, because that means basic necessities being covered and nothing else. A nation can not thrive on welfare. (This is why every nation that has tried communism ended up making everyone poor) It’s in the best interests of the nation to have as many self-sufficient people as possible if the goal is to build wealth.

It actually is 100% the government's job to make sure you are housed and fed. It is in society's best interest you are stable, educated, and healthy.

You are confused. It is NOT the governments job to ensure YOU are housed and fed. It IS the governments job, to make sure too many people don’t go unhoused and unfed because that would create disorder and chaos, disrupting society. The governments job first and foremost is to maintain order and stability, your personal struggles are irrelevant. They only become relevant when there enough people who are struggling that it disrupts society.

The government's role is to create an environment where people have the freedom and opportunity to succeed, not to guarantee their outcomes. It should provide security, enforce the rule of law, maintain infrastructure, and protect individual rights. Earning a living and building a life is my responsibility, not the government's. Opportunity is the government's job; outcomes are mine.
