Can anyone explain who has right of way here? Pedestrians or vehicles? this has recently been modified outside Sainsburys in Bitterne. It’s a pavement by a school so in daily use by children, and currently quite dangerous to navigate. @hantshighways @Royston_Smith @SouthamptonCC

@SouthamptonCC @hantshighways @Royston_Smith Thank you for your response. I hope all driver using this entrance to the car park are aware of this and no pedestrians or cyclists are harmed due to the clear confusion this is causing. Is a sign out of the question?

@cjonesconsult @hantshighways @Royston_Smith Hi Claire, I have checked with our highways team. They have said, pedestrians and cyclists have priority as this is a continuous footway across the junction. There are currently no further amendments planned here at this time.

@usedtobefaster @hantshighways @Royston_Smith @SouthamptonCC Thanks @usedtobefaster, you and @LoogleW have proven my point that it’s confusing with your conflicting, but equally valid, interpretations of the situation. It’s a passage into a car park so gets a lot of through traffic. A sign so it is clear to all would be welcomed!

@LoogleW @hantshighways @Royston_Smith @SouthamptonCC But there is no end to the pavement, usually denoted by a kerb, so where does the pedestrian stop? A zebra crossing would of done the job!
