IRS's "free" direct file is costing taxpayers $1,900 per return, even though it's being used for simplest returns. "Greedy" H&R Block or TurboTax would charge ~$40 or $50 for better services. Stop using taxpayer resources to try to nationalize tax prep services. @wsj link below

Many of these @HRBlock users who are affected paid for the free e-filing option but now cannot use it. Will they refund them? Will all the state e-file charges be refunded? What happens if users go over their credit limit with repeated charges and face penalties? We shall see!

Don't forget - their "FREE" option is often hidden and intentionally obfuscated in favor of their many paid options. (Like most) Now @HRBlock has now been down for most users for 16 hours, only admitting the fault within the last hour or 2 still with no resolution or ETA.

Just in case anyone forgets - rather than simplifying the US tax code @HRBlock is part of the cabal that lobbies and strong arms the US into maintaining it's absurd and comically complex tax system and not providing taxpayers with an easy way to file directly electronically.
