LinkedIn telling you who's looked at your profile: amazing. Especially when it's a prick from your block list.

Absolutely agree. Astonished at the replies to this announcement going on about female presenters... utterly sexist tripe that is missing the point. It's the crap panels that make people switch off. Might as well have Dave from the pub on.

@BBCMOTD We don’t want “big personalities”. Allowing the low-rate influencer class into punditry has destroyed the credibility of sportscasting. Keep your KSIs, Thogdens, Buvey, Rory Jennings, True Geordie, McKola, AFTV dipshits out of football coverage ffs

It's weird how a significant proportion of British people despise people on benefits who are apparently sponging off the state, but love millionaires who live offshore to avoid contributing to the economy.

Before I was an MP, I worked on the current series of polymer banknotes at the Bank of England. So I know how decisions about our currency are made, and why they matter. Nigel Farage clearly doesn’t. What he conveniently ignores is that central banks regularly issue new banknote series. It’s how they stay ahead of counterfeiters and keep our currency secure. It’s technical. It’s essential. And it’s completely routine. So why is he manufacturing outrage? Because Farage and Reform UK have spent months attacking the Bank of England itself. They’ve demanded the Bank halt quantitative tightening. 💷 They’ve pushed to stop interest being paid on central bank reserves, which would completely destroy monetary policy transmission. ⚠️ And Farage has even suggested replacing the Governor with someone aligned to his agenda. Let’s be clear: Politicians leaning on central banks is how you spook markets and undermine confidence in the economy. Bank of England independence, brought in by the last Labour government, exists for a reason. To keep markets and household finances stable. I back the Bank to keep our currency secure, not to be dragged into political point-scoring. So if Farage spent half as much time understanding how the Bank works as he does attacking it, we’d hear a lot less of this nonsense. ❌

The Bank of England is replacing Winston Churchill with a picture of a beaver on our bank notes. This is the definition of woke.

I’m writing this because the sacrifice of British troops and the reality of what’s happening right now in the Middle East should not be rewritten for political theatre. Donald Trump claims Britain “joins wars after they’re already won” in the Iran conflict. Let’s talk facts. The United States and Israel launched major strikes on Iran that triggered the current war across the region. Britain chose not to rush blindly into offensive strikes, but we are already involved RAF jets operating over Jordan and Qatar, Royal Navy ships preparing for deployment, and British bases being used for defensive operations. That isn’t “joining late”. That’s called acting responsibly and protecting our own people and allies. Britain has stood with the United States for decades in Iraq, Afghanistan, and NATO operations across the world. We don’t need lectures about loyalty. Britain is an ally, not a subordinate and when British forces deploy, they do it for the right reasons, not for someone else’s political narrative.

I am the Ukrainian skeleton racer who was wrongfully disqualified from the Olympics last month because of my “Memory Helmet.” Tonight in Milano-Cortina, the Paralympic Games are opening. The Committee has bizarrely permitted Russian soldier-athletes to participate under the Russian flag. The head of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) literally stated that they don’t care about what Russian soldiers did in Ukraine. The problem is that we do care. They are killing Ukrainians on the battlefield, bombing our cities, and committing genocide. Now, with this step of allowing them to compete, the IPC is giving them the opportunity to continue committing genocide by spreading Russian narratives with Russian flags and symbols. They try to manipulate the situation by pointing out that the movement started after World War II, but during World War II the Olympic Games were cancelled, and German athletes were not invited and did not take part in the Games until 1952. It looks like the head of the IPC doesn’t know the history of the Olympic and Paralympic movement at all. What a shame. This whole story is just getting worse and worse.

@HMRCcustomers 0300 200 3300 is the number I've called. I've had a message that my tax code is changing, but the reasoning for it is wrong so I need to confirm with someone why. Can I schedule a call back or anything, where I don't risk being disconnected early?

@HMRCcustomers twice today I've called to speak to someone, and twice I've been hung up on at the point that - I think - an advisor was grabbing my call from the queue. First at 14m 30s, again at 12m 30s. Do I need to waste my time for a 3rd go?

@msjanebond007 Rees-Mogg put in his first vote of no confidence against May, just hours before meeting with Johnson, Farage and Bannon. The time and date of this meeting is clearly evident in the Epstein files. I personally think this is much bigger than the Mandelson story.

FIFA just sold football’s history to the highest bidder. The removal of analytic data on @FBref is a calculated heist of public knowledge to protect a 2026 World Cup gambling monopoly. Stats Perform (@OptaSTATS) is taking the heat but FIFA is equally to blame. A 🧵(1/10)
