#ChihuahuanDesert today. I'm certainly no expert, but this young Western Diamondback rattlesnake seems to have recently shed its tail button and rattle cap. I believe after each shedding now the snake develops a new rattle.

Bees are thought to have evolved in deserts, and are still found in their highest diversity in deserts. 🐝🌵 In the #ChihuahuanDesert one small area (of only ~6 sq miles) was discovered to be home to almost 500 bee species!

@savebees That’s why I planted native flowering shrubs & low water perennials as part of the @xercessociety Santa Fe Pollinator Trail Project. There are countless diverse species sharing the space. Bees coexist peacefully with butterflies, ladybugs, lizards, birds.

@abreezeclayton Well, perhaps the Democratic Party should stop treating rural people like they just fell out of the turnip truck and need to be led and lectured to by more liberal, know-it-all urban elites. That gets really tiresome. I saw most of Upstate NY and rural NM go Red because of this.

I swear every person I meet in politics who is also from a rural place has the grit of God and I’m just here to recruit more rural people into this shit. tough as nails and they never give up. and the Democratic Party needs as much of that as we can get rn.
