I once told my parents I was now a man and they should stop sending me allowance since I was making my own money. First month, everything was fine. Second month, my source of income started misbehaving. Third month, I began touching my savings, hoping something new would come up. Fourth month, no income, and the savings were almost gone. Fifth month, I hit rock bottom. I stopped buying food outside, stopped taking bikes, started entering buses, and began cooking the foodstuffs I brought from home that I used to ignore. By the sixth month, only garri remained. I drank garri at least twice a day for two weeks. Like the prodigal son, I called home. They told me I was a man and I should find a way. No savings left. One guy introduced me to loan apps. I borrowed up to 100k from different loan apps at some point. Some loan apps don't care about your credit score 😂😂 they will still borrow. That was when I downloaded Truecaller and paid for premium just to block calls. Eventually, I sent my dad a long epistle saying I might take a leave of absence from school for a year to hustle because I couldn't take it anymore They got scared and thought I was depressed. I was not depressed. I was just very hungry and tired of garri. My mum entered my DM with a long message telling me not to give up and asking how much I needed. That was how my weekly 100k allowance returned. Till today, my dad still sends motivational quotes every morning telling me not to give up. 😂

What's the longest period of time you've survived on garri as a student?
