Arsenal currently have 23 senior players, 15 of whom are non-homegrown. Signing Madueke and Gyokeres brings the squad to the non-homegrown limit of 17 and the overall squad limit of 25.

Social media likes and shares don’t reflect real world thinking. They over-index bots, trolls, and children. But they have become the currency of mainstream football media and it has dragged the medium into the gutter and we are all going down with them.

@YankeeGunner the class is permanent form is temporary discussion has been forgotten. We have many players who are in an elite class who are having a down season. A summer without a major tournament for our players would be good for them

I remember when Saka and white played with Achilles and hip problems and came in for stick. Salah went cold in front of goal down the stretch last season and it cost Lfc a title. And people thought he was finished. Sometimes you have to zoom out

Odegaard’s form isn’t great but it also won’t last. I understand the criticism of his recent performances but I can’t understand doubt about his quality.

@scottjwillis I think arteta is right, the club have been very disciplined for the most part on their acquisitions and it has largely paid off. This is definitely a group that has a plan and have been very successful in building a team. Waiting for odegaard was showed their approach.

I think a day to sleep on it I’m a bit less over the edge on Arsenal’s transfer business. Certainly not ideal but maybe there is a path for the risk to pay off

There are literally 2 teams in all of Europe who can look down on us in any table. Liverpool & Barca. It doesn’t make everything ok but it’s a reasonable bit of context for some of the absolute horseshit I’ve seen on here. And that’s in a season where *everything* has gone wrong

@scottjwillis Agreed, There are some people who have been waiting to be "Right" who are pouncing now. But realistically the Euros have made the top teams more fragile through injury and lack of rest for the best players. Can't coach extra rest.

I don’t think this is remotely true. Emotions are high after a disappointing loss, combined with dropped points but his approval rating with fans is very high (guess 75-90%).
There is a loud and amplified by outrage algorithm minority.

Arsenal fans are already turning on Arteta. So all fanbases are batshit then because months ago he was untouchable. So managers get absolutely no wiggleroom anymore to make adjustments at the top level. It's either you're the best or get out? Madness.

@scottjwillis I’m not familiar with XH chain usage as a stat, but does this imply or correlate highly with successful pass %? If not would be interesting to have a metric that would grade them on keeping possession vs being involved in creating(?) xg?
