In old Celtic belief, the hawthorn was a doorway to the Otherworld. Modern ecology quietly agrees: hawthorn hedges host over 300 insect species, creating literal portals of biodiversity where two ecosystems meet. The “fairy tree” really is a threshold. #folkloresunday
