Goodmorning Please! If you come across any tweet claiming that “Nigerian women in the UK are withdrawing divorce cases in record numbers,” request community note on it and report the account for misinformation. These idiots were cooking up stories day in day out at the peak of NIUK for engagement, and immediately the community went under, the stories stopped. Now they have started spreading wicked lies again. Ask them for proof and it’s always one uncle, one friend, one imaginary person they know. The only stats we can actually see are news reports and deaths of migrant women in DV situations. If you need links to credible government sites, I will post them under the tweet

I have searched and searched online to see if anything has changed with the domestic violence rule or UK divorce law, there have been no recent changes. There is NO new UK “divorce and return home” policy that automatically deports people for filing for divorce. What the law has said for years is, if your visa is tied to your spouse, your visa may be curtailed (shortened) upon divorce, usually giving you time to switch into another visa route or make a fresh application… not instant deportation. It’s also important to note, where there is domestic abuse, there are protections in place. The Domestic Violence Rule still allows eligible people to apply for settlement independently: gov.uk/indefinite-lea… There is also temporary support through the Destitution Domestic Violence Concession: gov.uk/government/pub… And for divorce law itself (no-fault divorce): legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2020/11/…

Have they changed the divorce laws in the UK?

Jessica Winter has been raising her children to detest A.I. Then her daughter’s public middle school began receiving Google Chromebooks, which came pre-installed with an all-ages version of Gemini, a suite of A.I. tools. “When my daughter, who is in sixth grade, begins writing an essay, she gets a prompt: ‘Help me write,’ ” Winter writes. “If she is starting work on a slide-show presentation, the prompt is ‘Help me visualize.’ She shoos away these interruptions, but they persist: ‘Help me edit.’ ‘Beautify this slide.’ ” Proponents of generative A.I. in elementary and middle schools argue that such early exposure will foster digital-media literacy, and prepare them for a future in which most professions are steeped in A.I. But the technology also poses significant cognitive and social-emotional risks to young people. Read Winter’s report about A.I.’s infiltration into schools—and what it could mean for young minds: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/NSWuBG

Reminder that majority of false accusations are made by men, but society loves to ignore the fact that the millions of damaging lurid sexual lies spread by men about women and girls, are also false accusations that cause real reputational damage, psychological harm and distress!

Literally nobody's opinion matters. The real issue is putting an erotic song in the background of a video about a medical procedure that has zero sexual content. As long as male doctors sexualize everything they'll remain predators. Yall always give off a rapey vibe

Nigerians should be aware that the police force is still weaponizing the 2015 Cybercrime Act which requires them to arrest anyone for cybercrime upon receiving a petition. This Act was amended in 2024 to stop the police from arresting and detaining civilians without a court order, but it’s still in use to date. Amnesty International has called them out severally, but this is Nigeria! I tweeted about this years ago. That being said, you guys should be aware of this aggressive law. All it takes is a petition for investigation from Tony or any influential person in the society to get this boy arrested even if Tony didn’t formally request for it. And of course, the boy’s tweet is disgusting. Seeing Tony’s daughters and immediately thinking of HIV and losing their virginity is morbid for an 18 year old writing JAMB. x.com/Nimisioluwa/st…

Keep suing these banks, until they take you seriously. Someone did — and won! This is for those who think they can’t sue big companies in Nigeria. People sue often but it’s not enough to overwhelm the corporations. Become litigious!

This debunks White people's claims of "Everyone would do what we did if they were in our position"...First thing China did when they discovered Gunpower was create fireworks...first thing whites did was create arms to kill each other and the rest of the world lol
David Shapiro (L/0)@DaveShapi

For context, China had the technology for gunpowder, printing, and blue ocean exploration hundreds of years before Europe. They failed to use it. That goes beyond a generational fumble. That is a self inflicted civilizational fumble that China still hasn't made up for.

Nigerians may not remember when Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was printing on the national dailies the monthly FAAC allocations and what governors had been paid, we could then see clearly the idiots who were arguing against the Excess Crude Account. It's much the same here. Sometimes,...

and barring all the arguments against a good leader at the top. We need someone at the top with a history of opening up governance and shining a great light on the gaps. To kill the rats in a room, you must first turn on the lights, and find where those vermins hide.
