Year 4 Hengoed Primary

Our Heddlu Bach had a fantastic session today! We were introduced to our local PSCO’s and made some fun plans for the future! 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏼🚨 @HengoedPrimary

@ecoschoolfran @reforestnow_au @EcoSchoolsWales Lots of things! We learned that even dead trees are really useful for plants and animals. We need to tailor our soil to make sure it’s good enough for growing. Also, we need to make sure the roots of our trees are lower than the roots of the grass! There was so much more too😊🌳

Our Eco Council had a fantastic opportunity to FaceTime Oisin from @reforestnow_au. Oisin helps to restore rainforests by planting about 10000 trees a week! He is giving us great tips for our saplings and will keep in touch to see the progress!🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿@EcoSchoolsWales @ecoschoolfran

To start #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek , year 4 learned how endorphins can help us reduce stress and improve our sense of well-being! During PE today we worked hard to release endorphins through our bodies! 😊

Nothing like snow for some authentic maths opportunities especially as our theme is Ice Age! We took temperatures and measured our class snowman. Lots of awe and wonder and fantastic teamwork! Bendigedig blwyddyn tri ⛄️ ❄️

What an amazing opportunity we have to get outside and start our new topic - Frozen Planet!
