We were pleased to welcome students from @ReptonSchool recently as part of a visit to @AlstomUK's Litchurch Lane works in Derby. They had a tour of 507001, allowing them to compare its historic engineering approach with the modern trains elsewhere on site. Hope you enjoyed it!

#OnThisDay 123 years ago electric services commenced on the Mersey Railway with these very American-looking units. The railway environment had been unpleasant being steam hauled and underground so the company was struggling, electrification was its saviour buff.ly/zL7IW7c
