@segalink Where was Peter Obi when we were fighting for this democracy that he is so invested in benefitting from🤷‍♂️. We have not forgotten the Abacha days, most of us just chose to move on. I’m glad he did himself in by reminding us.

Peter Obi, this is exactly where emotion has overtaken reason. You cannot—under any honest standard—compare a democratically elected government, however imperfect, to the brutal military dictatorship of General Sani Abacha. That is not criticism; that is distortion. Abacha’s regime was defined by state-sponsored assassinations, suppression of free speech, execution of activists, and total absence of democratic accountability. Nigerians were jailed, exiled, and killed simply for speaking. There was no court of appeal, no opposition, no media freedom. That is not a benchmark for political rhetoric—it is a dark chapter in our history. Today, you speak freely. You grant interviews. You criticize government openly on national platforms without fear of arrest. That alone destroys your comparison. If there are concerns about governance, security, or justice—raise them with facts, propose solutions, and hold leaders accountable constructively. That is what statesmanship demands. But invoking Abacha to score political points is not only careless—it is deeply disrespectful to the memory of those who actually suffered and died under that regime. Nigeria deserves better than exaggerated narratives. It deserves honest leadership, even in opposition.

Yesterday defenders of democracy, today's destroyers, What a shame. What an irony of history, that the acclaimed defenders of democracy and human rights who claimed to have fought for democracy during the era of General Sani Abacha now find themselves worse than the man they opposed. Today, General Sani Abacha, once presumed face of oppression, will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than the so-called champions of activism from the NADECO days. Power indeed reveals character. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

They have added a community Notes to Abazz tweet. This means that it's obvious and registered on Twitter that he didn't follow Osimhens' instructions, and the he was trying to be dubioùs. Any time theres community notes on your tweet, always know that X will censor you as a manipulatòr. This is really bad for his brand.

Michael Carrick wrote about this experience in his book, ‘Between the Lines’. It wasn't a nice narration. He wrote about how difficult a footballer’s life is and how that trip wasn't convenient for many of them. His description of Nigeria and Abuja in that book was scathing. He wrote about some Policemen breaking a photographer’s camera and beating him for taking a picture of them. He said he yelled after them. “They grabbed him, jabbed him in the ribs and dragged him round the back of the hotel. ‘Whoa, what’s up? It’s only a picture. We never saw him again. It was all a bit over the top,” he wrote. In another paragraph, his words were; “the whole experience in Abuja was like being trapped in a horror film”. Read his conclusion; “The trip lasted only 16 hours, but Abuja’s effects lasted longer. I vomited for a week, but some lads had it far worse. They were so sick that United sent a sample off to some university and, I’m not kidding, they found monkey and rat shit in the sample. The university docs said they’d never seen anything like it before. So, no, I won’t remember Abuja happily and I can’t imagine the other lads will either. Those are the type of souvenirs you don’t want to bring back from tours abroad.” It was the last time any big team was in Nigeria. Eighteen years ago. We will learn one way or the other. My name is Rilwan, I love and write about football systems, memories and the depths behind the game. Follow me and repost if you want more of this.

oga rest, what's the requirement for selection
Ayilola of Nigeria /Laptop Guy 🩺 🇳🇬 🇬🇧🇺🇸@silverpenydr

Victor Osimhen @victorosimhen9 may choose to ignore me for his own reasons, but that doesn’t change the purpose of what I’m doing here or the sincerity behind the initiative I started. So far, my team and I have distributed 56 laptops, along with tech skills training, through @Techaccessfound, without asking beneficiaries for a dime. You can try to paint me in a bad light, but the records speak for themselves. At the end of the day, what truly matters is that lives are being impacted. I’m already compiling clear evidence, details of all beneficiaries, vendors involved in distribution, their handles, total costs, and the remaining balance. I will not allow anyone to rewrite my story on this app. And if you ask whether I regret accepting that money from Don Jazzy, yes, I do. It wasn’t worth it. Many of you were never worth the stress, driven more by agendas and Elon money than genuine impact. That said, I’m still grateful to Don Jazzy and everyone who has supported this project. Your contributions are appreciated, and I do not take them for granted.
