Greek, Latin, hockey, writing, politics, and contrarianism (not necessarily in that order). I think about the Roman Empire everyday.

The fact that the Declaration of Independence says that rights come from "the Creator" is quite a psychic shock to the leftwing geniuses of Reddit, who are spamming out cope to deal with this Today I Learned... fact they should have learned in fifth grade.

Guy who lives as a woman is confused why he "struggles" having sex with another man who lives as a woman. On the off chance that he might read this, I'll explain why, and give him a few years worth of free therapy: Its because youre almost certainly an effeminate straight man. You were lied to by a regressive ideology that rigidly enforces traditional gebder-based stereotypes. If this was 20 years ago, the liberal position would be that you arent broken just because you're a feminine man and that you arent any less of a man just b/c you dont possess traditionally masculine traits. Unfortunately, you had the misfortune of coming of age in today's ideological environment, where the consensus liberal orthodoxy is to enforce traditional gender-based stereotypes. They told you that because you dont possess traditionally masculine traits, it means that you ARE less of a man. In fact, it means youre actually a woman, trapped in a man's body. This dangerous lie has caused untold harm and misery to tens of thousands of vulnerable young ppl, and the reason why you find it so distressing to suck another man's penis is because you arent actually a woman trapped in a man's body, but instead are almost certainly an effeminate straight man trying to force yourself to have sex with other men because youve been sold a lie about the fundamental nature of who and what you are.

If you’re a taxpayer in this country, you’re the victim of systematic theft, subsidized by policies that treat your earnings with contempt. Governor Newsom’s administration plans to spend three times what the same diapers cost at Target. Most people won’t bat an eye. After all, it’s not their money. And that’s exactly the problem. The funds come from taxpayers. The recipients, in the vast majority of cases, are not. They have little incentive to care about cost, source, or efficiency, so long as the diapers arrive. Would it change anything if the markup were 5x or 10x? Probably not. When people spend other people’s money, careful stewardship disappears. The incentives are stacked toward waste. Layer on top of that the inevitable bureaucracy and well-paid middlemen, and the outcome is predictable: a small group benefits directly, administrators and contractors take their cut, and taxpayers foot an inflated bill for the privilege. This isn’t compassion. It’s a textbook illustration of how government spending distorts incentives and rewards inefficiency.
Steve Hilton@SteveHiltonx

How much are diapers at Target compared to Gavin Newsom's government diapers paid for by YOUR taxes? We went to take a look:

I tried counting for a while. “How many crazy things will I see today? Ha ha.” Then a couple of weeks ago, dude blows through one of the worst intersections in the state a full 10 seconds after the green light at 45-50 mph and did not react to five sets of horns. No head turn. No brakes. No bird!?! I wasn’t angry. I was shaking from fear.

I've become the most courteous, cautious driver out there. Quite against my nature. But if you drive a lot. You start to see the others who are like that. Yeah, there's still the douchebags...
Lisa C@classicsgal27

I hate that I have to mentally arm myself when I drive. I hate the idea of being as selfish and inconsiderate as everyone else out there. I hate being harder at this point in my life. I hate the idea that most drivers will never stop and consider any of this. And neither will the people in charge.

I will also add, this applies to street parking. You didn’t take your neighbor’s shoveled spot because you knew all of your neighbors. Or, everyone helped everyone else shovel a whole bunch of spots. You didn’t take two spots or block the driveways. That tends to happen when you’ve lived around the same people for decades. You think about others.

Recently, @SenWarren was claiming auto insurance is expensive because of "greed." In fact, driving requires a lot of trust, care, and responsibility. I don't know what happened here, but I see more and more terrifying driving on MA roads than ever. Left on red, rapid and random lane changes, blocking intersections, running lights, backing up on highways, ignoring signs... You have to believe that that the driver next to you cares as much about his life, his passengers, his neighbors, and his car as you do. The fact is, more and more often, the other driver does not. He doesn't care about anything other than himself. And we're the suckers who follow the rules. It's a free for all. It's low trust. It's what happens when there is no gatekeeping for DLs and no punishment for law breakers. We all pay. In more ways than one.

Ha. Ya’ll see. I don’t disagree with Ryan on everything. How to Hide an Empire is a fantastic book. Except we learned completely different lessons from it. Who did Puerto Rican freedom fighters try to assassinate? Harry Truman Who gave away our jewel in the pacific, the Philippines, to prevent tens of millions of brown Catholics from voting? FDR Who tried to block Hawaii from becoming a state because there were too many brown people? The Democrats! Who segregated the federal workforce, screened Birth of a Nation at the White House, and occupied Haiti under racist administration? Wilson Woke democrats have been playing race games for over a century. And who loved our Philippine-American nations the most? Who gave Japan the most progressive business friendly constitution that allowed them to succeed? Who refused to subjugate Germany? Who took a sledgehammer to the colonial system up to and including not allowing them to retaking the Suez Canal? MacArthur and Eisenhower… both strong Republicans. This book tries very hard to be woke but, in fact, it’s a study in why governing without racism and sexism is a Republican tradition that has served our nation well. P.S. it also shows how William Henry Seward, a Republican, purchased Alaska and prevented famine in the US with the Guano Act. We couldn’t have won the Civil War without his diplomacy that kept Britain and France from recognizing the Confederacy,

Cosigning on this recommendation with Daniel Radcliffe because it is an incredible book that not only changed how I understood America, but it changed how I understood the world.

@DemGovs @maura_healey Wow, what generosity. Coming out of her own pocket, is it? And these recipients are all going to be long-time MA taxpayers with good credit who won't default in a few years? No moral hazard here.

@boston25 Your report neglects to mention that local towns have no say in placement. In fact, the law takes away local control. So dangerous trailer parks of batteries will be put wherever the state wants them. Funny how you made it sound like the opposite was happening.

Well, just like Trump didn't start the war with Iran, neither did he start a war with the Catholic church. In both cases, he was responding to hostilities they initiated. Making your case from behind a nun's habit. Classy. That "more than any other institution" claim doesn't really withstand scrutiny. Without Protestants, from Day One on the continent, this country doesn't exist.

Why would Donald Trump start a war against the Catholic Church? For 250 years, American Catholics have founded hospitals, built universities, fed the hungry, sheltered refugees, educated children in the poorest corners of the nation, created some of the most beautiful art and music in human civilization, and fought for justice in places where justice had no other advocates. More than any other institution, we built this country.
