The then-businessman Donald Trump stepped up: he wrote a personal check for $200,000, helped raise another $300,000, and marched with over 25,000 veterans down Fifth Avenue. Parade director Tom Fox (a Vietnam vet) said it plainly: “Donald Trump saved the parade.” This wasn’t for votes or headlines; it was pure respect for our warriors and love for America.
