Punching someone about the head is very likely to cause severe injury and can cause death. That was clearly a very stupid suggestion easily disprovable by any one of the thousands of videos of them doing exactly that. No, the black guy was clearly in the wrong. NO ONE is arguing that he was in the right. He clearly wasn't. But I have a novel concept for you that doesn't appear to have occurred to you: What if BOTH the black guy AND Chud were in the wrong? I know, it's crazy but stay with me here... Even IF the arrest report is a lie and Chud didn't draw his weapon first - unlikely, but let's play along - Chud is STILL in the wrong because he violated the concept of proportionality that is required to make a successful self-defense claim. In order for you to have a valid claim to self-defense in court, you CANNOT simply shoot someone for punching you. You CANNOT escalate to lethal force in the absence of a threat that is likely to result in death or serious bodily injury. Such a threat MUST be present in order for you to make a successful self-defense claim in court. "Serious bodily injury" is not a black eye from getting punched. It is not getting a bruise because you fell to the ground. It's not even a broken nose. "Serious bodily injury" is getting your head repeatedly smashed into the pavement, getting hit in the face with a baseball bat, or being stabbed in a non-vital area. Something like that. There is NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER that Chud faced any threat like that. Such a threat was notable absent, yet chud drew and fired his weapon anyway. And before you try to argue that a punch could have killed him, stop. L:ess than 2% of all hand-to-hand engagements result in death or serious bodily injury, and most of those involve small women being attacked by men. Chud is not a small woman. He is a big, strapping dude and a punch is extremely unlikely to kill him. The threat cannot be theoretical. It must be something that a "reasonable person" (which is a legal term) would conclude is *likely*. Not just possible - likely. All of this is to say... YOU CAN'T FUCKING SHOOT SOMEONE JUST FOR PUNCHING YOU. Chud is not a smart man. He not only tried to make a living (past tense - that is over) by provoking people, but he was stupid enough to 1) carry while doing it, 2) post about shooting "chimps" online less than 72 hours prior to doing exactly that, and 3) not understand when he can legally use lethal force, and when he cannot. He is going to be convicted. He will likely make a plea deal because his self-defense claim is so weak. He is going to prison. Chud fucked up. Don't be like Chud. Is this a reading comprehension issue? There are THOUSANDS of videos of black men charging people with guns - cops, civilians, whatever. At no point did I say anything about "saving the day". I simply pointed out the FACT that there are videos of black men - and white men, and brown men for that matter - charging at people holding guns all over social media.
