@QuinnyPig Your documentation states that you can purchase DynamoDB reservations with a no-upfront option. I have never seen this, is this available to certain customers only? It would be great if you could.

It figures. AWS hasn't updated anything about Reserved Instances in *years*.
Until we put out a comprehensive RI purchasing guide. Then sure enough, BAM! They introduce instance flexibility to ElastiCache RIs basically the next business day.

@QuinnyPig Their Elasticache RI recommendations don't seem to have been updated to utilise size flexibility yet though. I'm still seeing m5.large, xlarge & larger as separate items in the same region.

Aside from the moral and practical vacuity of the Rwanda policy, one thing it illustrates - as we have been saying for years - is that the delays and shortages in the justice system could be fixed if the government cared to.

There has been a significant increase in Covid hospital admissions.
It is important to realise that we are in a Covid wave (possibly caused by the JN.1 variant), and to take that into account when deciding where and how we mix over the run up to Christmas.

Hospital admissions with COVID in England increased by 27% in-week. R-estimate incresed to 1.15. Admissions were flat in the East (-2%) but rose sharply elsewhere. Largest increases in the South East (46%) and the South West (45%). Acute bed occupancy is up by 26%.
