Previously, this wasn’t possible for Bitcoin due to high network fees and slow 10-minute block time. But RuneChain is a fast, low-cost Bitcoin L2 powered by @BVMnetwork. We believe this will onboard many users who are more familiar with CEX and who come from TradFi. On-Chain Order Books RuneChain's on-chain order books are a set of smart contracts that facilitate peer-to-peer market making and market taking of runes. An on-chain order book is fundamentally an on-chain list that includes current buy orders and sell orders for a particular rune. On the RuneChain website, the order book is split vertically on the screen: asks are displayed in red at the top, and bids are shown in green at the bottom. It displays not just the prices that buyers and sellers are prepared to accept but also the amount they wish to purchase or sell at those prices. On-Chain Market Orders An on-chain market order is a buy or sell order that executes immediately against the Order Book smart contracts at the best available market prices. If you prioritize quick execution over precise pricing, consider using a market order. This type of order executes immediately at the best available price: the lowest for buyers and the highest for sellers. Market orders are ideal when prices are volatile, and you need to act fast. On-Chain Limit Orders An on-chain limit order allows you to specify the maximum price you're willing to pay; the order will only execute against the Order Book smart contracts at this price or a more favorable one. Suppose $WZRD is trading around $10, but you believe the price might drop. Instead of buying immediately, you could place an on-chain limit order to purchase 1 $WZRD at $9. This means you would only pay $9 per $WZRD rather than the $10 you might pay with a market order. Limit orders are ideal for trading large quantities as they guarantee that you only pay the price you want as it becomes available. However, the drawback is that there's no assurance your order will be executed if the market price doesn't meet your specified level. Rune Bridge Rune Bridge enables the transfer of runes between Bitcoin (L1) and RuneChain (Bitcoin L2). While you can trade runes on L1, the user experience isn't ideal, with 10-minute block time and expensive transaction fees. Once you bridge runes from Bitcoin to RuneChain, you can trade runes, with 2-second block time and $0.001 transaction fee. The first version of the Rune Bridge is multi-sig, so use it at your own risk. Trustless bridges are complex crypto problems. We're working on a more decentralized solution, and actively researching other solutions like BitVM, OP_CAT, or Stacks Bridge. We think we're getting close to a temporary "sufficiently decentralized" solution. We'll share the design in a few weeks. $BVM FEB PRODUCT ROADMAP/RELEASES GM. Excited to share with the community what we’ve been building on in Feb. These products are going to be released in the next few days. Bitcoin L2s will power Bitcoin. BVM’s mission is to power thousands of Bitcoin L2s. In Feb, our focus is on three primary objectives that will help us one step closer to this mission. 1. BVM ECOSYSTEM We’ll launch 3 main ecosystem products that will support the BVM Ecosystem growth in 2024. 🚀 BVM Staking 🚀 Bitcoin L2 Launchpad 🚀 BVM Airdrop Season 2 As we are approaching the $BVM TGE, BVM Staking will enable BVM holders to stake BVM to earn more BVM and receive benefits like airdrops from Bitcoin L2 projects. Bitcoin L2 Launchpad will work with select Bitcoin L2s and help them launch on Bitcoin. As a BVM holder, you will have exclusive benefits if you decide to participate in these launchpads. And finally, we’ll kickstart BVM Airdrop Season 2. 50% of the token rewards will go to builders, and 50% will go to the users of the BVM ecosystem. More details on BVM Airdrop Season 2 will be posted later this week. 2. BITCOIN MODULE STORE Think of the Bitcoin Module Store like the Apple App Store. But instead of apps, developers will have blockchain modules that they can plug and play to build their own Bitcoin L2s. Data Validation Modules 🧱 Bitcoin Stamps module (Feb 26) Previously, Ordinals is the only Data Validation module. Through the BVM architecture, all Bitcoin L2s roll up their transactions to Ordinals. We’re excited to introduce the second option: rolling up to Bitcoin Stamps. Now, developers can roll up their transactions to Bitcoin as Bitcoin Stamps. Thank you, @mikeinspace, for creating Stamps. We think Bitcoin Stamps is a really interesting option for Data Validation as they are unprunable. Bridge/Interoperability Modules 🧱 SRC-20 Bridge module (Feb 29) We’re also building the SRC-20 bridge so that developers can build Stamps-based Bitcoin L2 blockchains for whatever they want. DeFi is obviously the first utility for Stamps. We think that you’ll soon be able to swap SRC-20 fast and with low transaction fees. Follow @swamps_src20 for more information. Data Availability Modules 🧱 Avail module (Feb 22) 🧱 Jackal module (Feb 22) 🧱 Arweave module (Feb 23) 🧱 IPFS module (Feb 23) After integrating @CelestiaOrg, @NEARProtocol DA, and @eigen_da, we’re adding @AvailProject, @Jackal_Protocol, @ArweaveEco, and @IPFS to the Bitcoin Module Store. We believe that the more options, the better for developers. They can pick and choose the best-fit option for their Bitcoin L2. 3. BITCOIN L2 LIQUIDITY HUB The final item is a Bitcoin L2 Liquidity Hub. We believe that there will be many Bitcoin L2s. However, they’re all fragmented. This creates a bad UX for users and also a barrier for developers to jump-start their Bitcoin L2. What we're building is a unified liquidity hub for all Bitcoin L2s. So you can move your assets from one Bitcoin L2 to another seamlessly. We’re taking a pragmatic approach. We’ll first build the liquidity hub with a centralized multisig solution and progressively move toward a decentralized solution over time. Our team is actively looking into BitVM to see if we can build a hub with BitVM. The liquidity hub will work with both BVM-powered Bitcoin L2s and non-BVM Bitcoin L2s. THAT'S ALL FOR FEBRUARY.
