@GregorioLuri Parece que la meritocracia es bien vista cuando se la ve como enemiga del privilegio (heredado), pero ya no cuando puede oler a privilegio ella misma. Igualdad, cuántos crímenes etc.

¿Por qué la meritocracia y la ética del esfuerzo están bien vistas en el fútbol y resultan sospechosas en la escuela? ¿Es más democrático el esfuerzo físico que el intelectual?

Air Force (1943) directed by Howard Hawks starring John Garfield, John Ridgely, Gig Young, Arthur Kennedy, Charles Drake, Harry Carey, George Tobias This terrific film was Howard Hawks' contribution to the war effort and features one of this favourite subjects: airplanes. It features a terrific script written by Dudley Nicholas and William Faulkner among others and Oscar-winning editing by George Amy from stunning black and white cinematography by James Wong Howe. But what really stands out is the very fine ensemble cast with no above the title stars. One really cannot single anyone out but I will say that the character I keep coming back to -- no matter how many times I see it -- is that played by George Tobias. He's often thought of as comic relief in so many films and later on TV but he was one of the studio system's most reliable character actors. Hawk's direction is masterful and this is one of his most effective films although it may not be among his best known. A superb addition to the filmography of WW2 and one that all should see.
