We need more people like Tim Bourret in college sports. Have known him for parts of five decades. He had an uncanny ability to walk that fine line between media members and coaches/players and the savvy to help both parties. Trust is earned. Incredibly well done by @Jon_Blau.

Two enduring memories with Jim, who never ages. I was standing 10 feet from him during his “diddly poo” rant in Charlotte. Wow, 30 years ago! Two years earlier, I was at Saints facility in Metairie, and as a 27-year-old clueless reporter, went up to him after practice (times were different then) to ask him about a local kid from my area who was a rookie. Jim looked at me quizzically, asked me where I worked and gave me great quotes for my story. That’s how I will always remember him.

Regardless of what happens with the future of the playoff format, we lose a little bit of the soul of college football if we keep losing compelling non-conference matchups on campuses.

As college football continues to head into the great unknown, I noticed this quote from the great Eddie Robinson sitting on a coach’s office desk during my travels this spring. Check out the date — 1984.

No one is more deserving of this recognition than Candice Lee. She shows up and does the work every day — her leadership, vision and belief are felt by everyone in the Vanderbilt community. We are fortunate to have her, and I am grateful to work alongside her!

Dante Moore was clear to @On3 how excited he is to have a healthy Evan Stewart back: “Evan’s been doing a great job ever since he got back, just being a leader. Even when he wasn’t playing, he was being a leader in the facility, the way he carried himself, the way he was still participating in meetings, even though he wasn’t able to play. "But with him being back and healthy, he’s just pushing that room way more, way better." More: on3.com/news/why-dante…

NEW: Dante Moore tells @PeteNakos his teammates played a role in his decision to return to Oregon over entering the NFL Draft: “When I look into my teammates’ eyes and see how dedicated they are to the game, [it] makes me play harder for the teammate next to me. I don’t intend to look at my competition as much as look at my brothers and know their why, know their reason why they play football. At the end of the day, we just lock in and handle business. My teammates help push me day-to-day. That’s my why, my teammates.” Exclusive: on3.com/news/why-dante…
