Someone just needs to build something like this. Texting and calls to and from approved contacts only. No browsers. Music/audio app controlled by parent app. I have an 11 year old so this is becoming real for me ha. The screen could even be an e-ink screen. Use hologram.io for LTE.

It’s ok to say you became a teacher so that you could coach.

@coachbeardbbq I’d say your job is significantly more difficult as a coach if you’re not a teacher. Managing and maintaining the relationships comes from the in school interactions

Richie Saunders, Dawson Baker and Nate Pickens have combined to score 3,597 Div. I points. And that's only their impact on the offensive end. BYU has been without Pickens all season, without Baker for the last 27 games, and without Saunders for the last nine games. What head coach Kevin Young, his staff and players have accomplished in the absence of crucial roster pieces is truly outstanding. As Coach Young has said, he has basically coached three different versions of his team this season, and BYU has kept winning games, doing so in different ways. It has been a fun run in Kansas City, as BYU has found new life in a late-season resurgence centered on simplicity and tenacity. Go Cougs!

Kevin Young when asked about a new identity for BYU the past few games: "We had a moment where I personally had to look myself in the mirror after that east coast trip (UCF in Provo then at West Virginia and Cincinnati)... That was a dark moment for our season. I had to just figure out...we have too much talent. Let's figure this out even without Richie. We took it back to the basics and we just dumbed it down with our defense. Got it a lot less coachy and a lot more 'just do it harder, longer, stronger, faster' and kept it simple."

Sometimes by the end of a season I’m burned out enough that I just need to do *something* different to reset. Today that looked like grabbing a ballpoint pen and doodling like a bored 8th grader in homeroom.

A most powerful & mysterious book. How is it mysterious? A 23 yr old with minimal schooling living in rural New York produced in 65 working days, without revision, a text with: - Ancient literary structures he almost certainly didn’t know existed - Internal consistency across a massive, complex narrative - Witnesses (including hostile ones) who NEVER wavered on the basic facts of the dictation & incredible (even supernatural) events surrounding the book No matter what people believe, it is an extraordinary work & the circumstances surrounding it still inspire awe & debate. I’ve read it many times & it still blows my mind. Here is my 1830 1st printing. I love it, because it is NOT the most perfect copy…it is a well-worn pioneer copy that came across the plains in a handcart.

Former BYU Basketball player Chris Collinsworth joined @espnthefan to break down what's happening with this BYU Basketball team: Q: What do you think about this BYU basketball team? Have you been watching the games? What’s going on with the Cougs? Chris Collinsworth: I watch. It’s tricky, man. Injuries obviously play a big part of it. That always makes things really hard. I remember even as a player getting hurt and feeling terrible for the coaching staff and the team because the roster and game plans are built with certain guys in mind — baseline out of bounds, sideline out of bounds, defensive schemes. When you lose one guy, then two, three, four guys, all that planning changes on the fly. That’s not fun. I don’t envy them there. Then losing isn’t fun either. To echo what Coach Young said after the last game, he’s trying to get his guys to have confidence and believe again. I honestly think that’s a huge part of it. I was looking at the box score and there were several guys who played over 10 minutes and didn’t shoot the ball once. I’m not saying they passed up shots, but there’s clearly a belief issue among other things. Coach Young is right — the most important thing right now is getting guys to believe they can win and give it their all. You can see that missing. When effort is low, fundamentals look bad. When confidence is low, simple things look hard. The question is how you get that back before Texas Tech and the Big 12 Tournament. I’m glad I’m not the one tasked with figuring that out. Q: From a schematic standpoint, BYU’s defense hasn’t been good. Is it better to keep repping man-to-man and try to fix it, or simplify and run more zone? Chris Collinsworth: That’s a great question. Houston picked a long time ago what they were going to be good at defensively, and they don’t adjust away from it. They’re going to be better at what they do than you are at scouting it. I remember watching one of their games earlier this year. They were up one point and still trapping ball screens and leaving shooters. It felt risky, but they got the stop and won the game. That’s their philosophy — be elite at one thing. So I’d love to see BYU find an identity and get really good at it. How you do that in a couple of days, I don’t know. Personally, I’d lean toward cleaning up the fundamentals and leaning into them rather than abandoning everything and sitting in a 2-3 zone. But if you do run a 2-3, be really good at it. It’s hard being a coach. I hate criticizing other staffs because I know how hard it is. But if guys can gain confidence, simplify some things, and give maximum effort, hopefully the results change.
