Just charged $700 for a 5m check of my ears for signs of blockage (none) and a recommendation for a saline rinse. $250 Out-of-pocket. The clinic billed a “moderate to complex” visit code. Should I fight this?

@AustralianStory If children can't hear, they'll struggle to learn. Love to share @SoundScoutsGame jorney with Nicola as we work to identify hearing loss in children at school entry. Using technology to improve lives across Australia.

@QualityLJ @SamHarkus A shocking and very sad story. The lack of awareness about hearing health continues to astound me. Education is desperately needed. Condolences to the family.

@SamHarkus That is horrendous… and the outcome was entirely preventable.

Honestly, a sad, terrible story of system failure & poor care. In a setting where Aboriginal people are over-represented, how is it that health staff were not aware that ear disease is common, & this man’s ear health was not on record. smh.com.au/national/nsw/i…

@brynhilde_012 It's a challenging field, I have faced this for 10+years with Sound Scouts but we are moving forward! Persevere, the understanding and rewards will come!

I just spent about 2hrs crying. Right now I feel it's totally a mistake to research serious games. There's no funding and no old profs leading the charge. I'm making so many mistakes cos there's no one teaching me and I'm trying too hard to prove the field to other scientists

There is no doubt from the @SoundScoutsGame data and the many stories educators share with us about children identified with hearing issues that the @healthgovau funding of the Sound Scouts service is one of the most valuable investments they have made in the future of our kids!

Sharing the devastating news that my beloved, beautiful mother Gisela died suddenly this week. Mum followed me secretly on Twitter for years and loved knowing about all of you too, so tagging her now for the first and last time @GiselaW53494598 I have no more words right now❤

REALLY USEFUL app called NALscribe out now, by @NALresearch. It transcribes as you speak, in a range of languages. Fantastic for health consultations, if your patient isn't hearing you well. You can save the transcript and text/email to your patient afterwards as well. So good!

@brynhilde_012 You're definitely not alone. Very challenging times and we are all suffering in some way or another. Hopefully you can take some small comfort in knowing you are not alone 💙

Going through an emotional low these days. Typed lots here, but then thought about my public image, so the letters got deleted one by one. I'll go back to writing fanfics, to write about death and war and the ethereal stupidity of hope, and live vicariously through my pen.

When my dad asked what he could do to help me through this extended lockdown, I jokingly asked him to send me photos when he was outside- and so now he's been doing this....

Happy Mother’s Day to you all, in whatever way it means something to you. Also, to the person who had the idea of revitalising the Scorched Peanut Bar (The Hard Bar) after 20 years off the market: thanks, bloody good job 👍🏽 A bag of bites is a perfect MD gift from my 16 yr old.
