Clear back in the 1980s a national news team decided to do an exploration of Hunger in America and went to Appalachia, rural George, etc. looking for hunger. They found none. Zip. There WERE and ARE malnourished kids, but it's not because there's a lack of available food - it's because the adults in their lives don't prepare it for them. Kids with dysfunctional adults have it tough, but the solution isn't "provide more food" or at least that's the shortest-term solution imaginable.

The content that keeps X alive globally has a massive African fingerprint on it. The memes, the trends, the raw commentary that makes timelines worth scrolling... a huge chunk of that energy is coming from Nigeria and countries like it. Advertisers in New York and London are buying placements on a platform made compelling by creators who see nothing in return. You don't cut the engine because the fuel is cheap. The argument should never be "why pay them." The argument should be "why aren't X selling that market better." That's the real idea worth having.

Hopefully something better related to the algo is coming. We all love X, because it is better than the other options especially for free speech.

This is happening more than people realize. A woman fighting breast cancer showed up for surgery today…fresh off of chemo, port in place, nothing to eat or drink, mentally preparing for the thing no one can ever truly be ready for. And then we canceled. Not because she didn’t need surgery. Not because it wasn’t medically necessary. But because the hospital said they won’t get paid without prior authorization. This is the system we’ve learned to work inside, one that denies and delays care for administrative reasons. A system where responsibility is spread everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Where having insurance doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the care you need. Where paperwork can matter more than a patient sitting in a hospital bed. Prior authorization reform may be announced, but on the front lines, it’s not what we’re seeing. Today, a cancer surgery was canceled because the system is designed to protect payment…not people.
