@RangaMberi I immediately thought of you as someone who not only knows a thing, two or three about PR, but genuinely loves our house of stone. Im ashamed by how it took an outsider to unlock gold out of what we Sadza eaters see as dirt.

@DeweGuru @PepukayiTaurai @NgonieSanaz Refined carbs are bad for us. You ridicule someone who is onto something. Imi vacho vasiri madofo takukudzai history. Before Portuguese traders brought white maize from Mexico we ate Millet etc. Given our economic malaise kuti eaten in moderation is impossible - it's all we eat.
English

@PepukayiTaurai @NgonieSanaz Hahaha idofo ririkuda kungonzi rataurawo. It's like vanodya sadza racho rakadero
Indonesia

@PepukayiTaurai @NgonieSanaz State your point without insult. Your data is subjective; refined carbs like white maize, rice ne flour are not good for us. Before the Portuguese brought us white maize, ours were fibre heavy grains like millet & Soghurm. The man is trying to get an important point across.

@NgonieSanaz Hauna kuita integrated science. This is what one gets from eating a 100 g Maize sadza- Kcal -KJ – (110 -460), 3g protein, 0.9 g fat, 24.7 total carbohydrate, 4.3 g fibre. Ko ukazodla hako +350 g which equals +385 calories and 86.45 g carbohydrate. Just like rice or pasta… dofo!

My brother, the Visionary, has built the largest single train refinery in the world, not in Kano, but in Lagos State. He is the owner of the second-largest sugar refinery in the world, also in Lagos State, and the largest cement factory in the world, not in Kano, but in Kogi State. Additionally, he has established one of the second-largest fertilizer plants in the world, soon to surpass the biggest one in Qatar, also in Lagos State. Furthermore, he has built a fertilizer plant in Lagos that already exports globally. Aliko Dangote is a titan that God created specially for mankind.
Aliko Dangote is also the largest private sector employer of labor in the country, and his companies are among the largest taxpayers. In fact, the Dangote Group often pays more in taxes than the top banks combined. If not for him, we would still be importing cement. His contributions extend beyond industrial facilities to critical infrastructure, having built major roads such as the Apapa Oshodi-Owonrosoki Express Road, Wharf Road, and the Obajana-Kabba Road.
Countries in the nascent stages of industrialization require visionary leaders. This is why it’s no surprise that the United States was built by the vision and tenacity of a few remarkable individuals—Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and Henry Ford—THE MEN WHO BUILT America’s industrial landscape. These men left the world without these assets but left behind a legacy that has kept their country thriving generation after generation. Their contributions were immortalized not in the material wealth they amassed but in the enduring institutions and industries they established. These visionaries were also supported by their government, which recognized the importance of fostering local champions.
Similarly, today’s tech giants like Microsoft and Tesla received substantial support from the US government. For example, in January 2010, the Department of Energy issued a $465 million loan to Tesla Motors to produce specially designed, all-electric plug-in vehicles and to develop a manufacturing facility in Fremont, California to produce battery packs, electric motors, and other powertrain components for powering these innovative vehicles. This initiative is part of broader efforts, such as the federal EV-charging program supported by the infrastructure law known as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, or NEVI.
In India, the government has been instrumental in supporting business titans like Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. Their companies have received significant backing to grow and expand, contributing substantially to India’s economic growth and global business footprint.
There are also records of emerging market countries like Vietnam, South Africa, Brazil, and China where their governments have supported local businesses to jump-start industrialization. In Vietnam, the government has provided various incentives to tech companies, fostering a rapidly growing technology sector. In South Africa, government support for the mining industry has been crucial in maintaining its global competitiveness. Brazil has seen substantial government investment in its agricultural sector, transforming it into one of the world’s leading food exporters. In China, government backing for companies like Huawei and Alibaba has propelled them to global leadership in technology and e-commerce.
In Nigeria, we have our own titans, and it is imperative that we recognize and support them. Aliko Dangote has broken every boundary in worldwide business and industry. His contributions are not just a testament to his brilliance but a beacon of what is possible when vision meets opportunity. Supporting local champions like Dangote is crucial for our national development and economic independence. Let us continue to foster and support these visionaries who drive our nation’s progress… F.Ote💲

@Lawless_Graced @YourGirlTino Opinion: Your child will be influenced to believe that you abandoned her. The court case creates undeniable proof you tried. Keep ALL receipts of your involvement & contribution. The day will come when she's grown and seeks answers.

🇿🇦 South Africa’s application to the ICJ is rooted in humanity and the belief that everyone deserves security and to enjoy basic human rights. The motivation is to stop the brazen and unrelenting slaughter of innocent people, over a third of whom have been children. More of the same means more killing, day after day. Proud of my mom and the SA legal team, proud of our country’s position on this, and hopeful for justice and renewed efforts for peace in the region.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb@nntaleb
Today, after the ICJ ruling, I find myself a little bit less disgusted with modern institutions and more hopeful for a trend towards greater justice, fairness, & morals in the face of lobbies, pressure groups, and propaganda outfits. A warm thank you, South Africa.

@daddyhope What boggles the mind is the fact that we are far ahead of the rest of the region in terms of work ethic. East & West Africa ahead of this Southern Africa bloc.

Yesterday I had lunch at my Harare home with my Asian friend who runs a big business in Zimbabwe.
She asked me why Zimbabweans complain about money yet they are always in churches instead of going to work when it is available.
I inquired for more information in order to understand what she meant, she explained that if she asks workers to stay behind for overtime work, they would rather rush to church than work.
She explained to me that many countries that have citizens who are obsessed with going to church also have poor citizens except for America which is an outlier and countries that have resources like oil.
She explained that China became what it is today because of hard work, and not going to church.
“You don’t become a superpower like China by going to church daily, God needs you to work,” she said
She added that she respects people’s rights to belief systems, but certain belief systems are the bedrock of poverty.
My friend was highlighting a perspective on the relationship between work ethic and economic prosperity, something that Tsitsi Masiyiwa said years ago on this platform, but unfortunately was driven off Twitter for saying that truth.
There is a direct link between certain cultural practices and their impact on productivity and economic prosperity.
People's beliefs and priorities influence economic outcomes, that is why I really appreciated my friend for bringing these things up.
Whenever I hire a Zimbabwean to do work for me in South Africa, invariably I get a sense that they take advantage of our Zimbabwean-ness.
They would never not turn up for work on account of going to church when they are hired by a white guy, but they will do that to a compatriot.
“Ahh mudhara nezuro taka zonwa stereki,” is another common one.
I think we should have a serious conversation amongst ourselves about work ethic, something that Tsitsi Masiyiwa correctly pointed out.
As a people, we have been let down by a corrupt government, but there is a line where government sins start and end, and where we must take responsibility for our successes or failures beyond corrupt rule.
I always make it a point to hire the marginalised, and those that have worked for me know that I pay very well, but they come late, they steal things, they overcharge, they do wrong quotations, they do shoddy work, they make false promises and more.
We should initiate this open discussion and figure out how we can have a shared commitment to professionalism and work ethics within our community both home and abroad.
This starts with having mutual respect for each other in the workplace whether you are at my home or at my work place, and acknowledging our individual responsibilities towards each other.
I will share more personal encounters with my compatriots both home and abroad, and how they can change their work ethic for the better.
You will never succeed in life if you don’t have a solid work ethic and restrict your professional behavior within reason.
What had been your experience?

@muzekepwa @mikemadoda Get bucks had booths within Innbucks. They had a deal...It would seem that model failed however awakened Simbisa...
English

@cmutambo @mikemadoda What I dispute is the part he says "banks were sleeping". The way banks were operating could have created a gap for Innbucks; however it is not farfetched to think that, may be one bank tried to use Simbisa as it's agent inadvertently selling the Innbucks concept to Simbisa.
English

@muzekepwa @mikemadoda Innbucks did what others before it did not. They started as a 100% free platform tied to the QSR distribution advantage. Bankers are greedy and put cart/profits before scale horse. Innbucks was an outsider and provided no frills, no bs experience.
English

@mikemadoda Very poor indeed and unnecessary. He also throw around false claims in his presentation. Before Innbucks, banks were already doing remittances examples being city hopper (BancABC), Met Remit, etc. As a matter of fact ecocash was not a pioneer in mobile money transfer
English

@muzekepwa @mikemadoda SA rugby is the best because it attracts & retains talent. Tendai Beast Mtwarira left Zim to go & represent the best. IPL, Silicon Valley, Shenzen et al. The best need an ecosystem...Perhaps he played down coaches but point still valid. Tendai was a legend at Peterhouse already..

Namibia rejects Germany’s Support of the Genocidal Intent of the Racist Israeli State against Innocent Civilians in Gaza
On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions. The German Government is yet to fully atone for the genocide it committed on Namibian soil. Therefore, in light of Germany’s inability to draw lessons from its horrific history, President @hagegeingob expresses deep concern with the shocking decision communicated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany yesterday, 12 January 2024, in which it rejected the morally upright indictment brought forward by South Africa before the #InternationalCourtofJustice that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in #Gaza.
Worryingly, ignoring the violent deaths of over 23 000 Palestinians in Gaza and various United Nations reports disturbingly highlighting the internal displacement of 85% of civilians in Gaza amid acute shortages of food and essential services, the German Government has chosen to defend in the International Court of Justice the genocidal and gruesome acts of the Israeli Government against innocent civilians in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Germany cannot morally express commitment to the United Nations Convention against genocide, including atonement for the genocide in Namibia, whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and genocide in Gaza. Various international organizations, such as Human Rights Watch have chillingly concluded that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza.
President Geingob reiterates his call made on 31 December 2023, “No peace-loving human being can ignore the carnage waged against Palestinians in Gaza”. In that vein, President Geingob appeals to the German Government to reconsider its untimely decision to intervene as a third-party in defence and support of the genocidal acts of Israel before the International Court of Justice.

I was there when Mugabe went on his destructive rampage against us whites and took our farms, destroying the economy and forever altering the trajectory of Zimbabwe.
I was there to watch "Operation Murambatsvina," where Mugabe bulldozed the homes of 1000s of black Zimbabweans, causing untold harm and death. He even razed homes to the ground while families were inside.
I was there to watch as the North Korean trained 5th Brigade swept across Matabeleland and killed over 30 000 rural villagers in a blatant act of Genocide.
I was there when Mbeki said, "South Africa will continue in its process of quite diplomacy when dealing with Zimbabwe's internal policies," As Mugabe murdered, tortured, abducted and imprisoned opposition supporters as he rigged a lost election.
Today, the ramifications of that resonate in a cruel tone as millions of Zimbabweans scratch a living in South Africa as illegal foreigners, sapping the lifeblood out of this country.
Today, instead of unity among Africans, there is growing hatred and xenophobia between blacks as despotic kleptocrats, across the continent continue to loot and maim their countries and citizens.
Yet today, South Africa is in Europe complaining about the actions of countries, in a war on the other side of the world, that means nothing to us here back at home and helps not a single citizen of South Africa.
Alive with tragedy and hopelessness. How blind, how cynical.
English

@MightiJamie Spot on. Another sickening example is how many South Africans of a specific profile are opposed to Israel genocide case because of whataboutism or "the ANC did xyz". Where is the humanity? An actual genocide is taking place.
English

I used to be a big Barack Obama fan, my twitter handle was dedicated to the man and over time some of my friends challenged me on his track record especially Libya.
I could not respond to the force of their arguments and I walked away from Barack fandom, I changed my handle and revised my view of the man.
Then when Mugabe died those same people were mourning and celebrating him even though I told them he committed a genocide. They didn’t deny the crimes against humanity. They instead told me that everyone has a bad side and that we have to also look at the good that he did.
I realized upon reflection that some people debate with integrity and sincerity to the intellectual exercise and others do not. Since then I pay more attention to the contradictions.
For example some people care more about accusations against a black Vice Chancellor than they do a white Vice Chancellor. That’s not because they care about corruption, they are just using the principle as a weapon to serve their motives.
To this day those chaps love and praise Mugabe. To this day.

@freemanchari 2. Remember Ram of Choppies in BW? He is now an Innscor type beast. They (Indians) arrived in Bots wearing slippers as Tswanas say but sweated and united their way to TOTAL dominance. A PVC pipes manufac founder casually said he got $1m funding "from community" to start Flotek.

1. Sometimes I wonder if I am the problem or if I just see things that pple don't see. In 2006, 3 of us wanted to start a Medical Lab in Harare. We had no cent. So I walked into Kingdom Bank and left a proposal addressed to @nigelchanakira. A few weeks later we were called back..
English

@freemanchari 1. Been in the deep end for a long time now. The culture of "risk taking" is just not in our people due to "poverty legacy". Other groups venture knowing they could lose it all but still take the plunge...Most of our people are not entrepreneurial.
