@anders_aslund I think he makes a valid point. If you want NATO to be relevant then members need to get on board with the main contributor that gives it relevancy.

I think 31 NATO members are disappointed with the US which apparently no longer considers itself a member of NATO to judge from this and many other Trump administration statements. The US invites no trust or credibility any longer.
Department of State@StateDept

SECRETARY RUBIO: I don’t think anyone is shocked to know that the United States and the President are very disappointed in NATO right now. If NATO countries like Spain are denying us the use of these bases, why are we in NATO? We need to discuss that.

This is a great lunch to bring up here. I mean the literal equivalent today is a cheese sandwich and a can of Budweiser. A meal that costs $1.75 all told? But the Zoomers would hate this. Beer? White bread? Wal-Mart cheese? Inconceivable.

This is like, actual 11th century medieval lunchslop for peasants: bread, cheese, onions, and ale. In 2026, boomers are saying that this plate represents some kind of insane luxury ("you want to drink an ALE? you want to eat ORGANIC cheese??")

@waynehhsiung Why is the long arm of the law expending so much publicly funding resources on this case when the Waynes intentions were well meaning and posed no threat to the public? I sincerely hope that justice will be served. Unfortunately it will come at a ridiculous cost to Wayne

In about one hour, I will be arraigned on 4 felony counts and face up to 30 years in prison for taking this little guy out of a Ridglan cage. In addition to charging me, the government has banned me from contacting my co-defendants and is now trying to undermine my right to a speedy trial. But every corrupt and unconstitutional act by the government will simply make our case even stronger. We press forward to defend the right to rescue—and to defend the tens of thousands of other dogs (and billions of other animals) who remain trapped in cruel cages. Most importantly, we defend James. Every time I come home, he jumps in my lap and begs to be picked up. It was the first place he ever felt safe. Rescuing him was not a crime. It was one of the best things I've ever done. I relish the opportunity to defend rescuing James in court.

For dinner tonight, @buttonslives and I are having pork chops, rice, and asparagus. We make this probably 2-3 times a week. It's delicious, and extremely affordable. Food and Cost: - 1.37lbs of pork chops @ $2.99/lb = $4.10 - 1* serving of yellow Minute Rice = $1.10 - 1/3 bag of Costco asparagus = $2.16 TOTAL COST FOR 2 PEOPLE: $7.36 *Christina didn't want rice tonight This took less than 30 minutes to cook. Asparagus goes in the oven. Pork is seared on a cast iron pan, and finished in the oven. Rice is cooked in the microwave. We eat a lot of pork because we like it and beef is really expensive right now. Some nights we have steamed broccoli instead of asparagus. Some nights we have mashed potatoes instead of rice. I cooked Indian last night. We cook a lot of stir fries too. Unless we're treating ourselves to a ribeye, our dinners don't cost more than $5 per person. People who say food is too expensive are just too lazy to shop smart and cook at home.

I'd be curious to know what people would do in my position. If I leave NYS, where should I go? Keep in mind I: - Hate humid heat - Am and will always be a low-earner (low prop. tax more important than low income tax) - Do not fit into "normie" HVAC drywall strip-mall world - Am very Catholic and wish to go to Mass every single day if possible - Am very much a "Yankee" but alternately I do mesh well with Latinos and speak some basic Spanish - Want to be around friendly, well-read, thoughtful eccentrics (esp 'Catholic hippies') - Could do rural or urban, cold-wet or desert climate - Prefer to avoid total reliance on automobiles - Need a place where I can buy a house CHEAPLY (as in, under $100k -- $200k at the absolute most) There are compromises anywhere, to be sure. Thus far I figure I could, in no particular order: 1. Get over my hatred of hot-humid heat and move back to Chalmette, LA 2. Get over my aversion to cars and live in rural NM on the fringes of Silver City or maybe T or C 3. Try out El Paso 4. Pony up big money and try out Coos County NH 5. Try out normiedom in or near Wichita (?) 6. Live in the hood in Steubenville OH 7. Move to Tucson or maybe ABQ 8. Forget all this and just be full-blown nomadic in a boat or a bus Or, of course, I could stay in NYS, though all my friends here are leaving and I'm starting to think the writing is on the wall for me here. What would you do? I get a lot of scattershot advice on this so I figured it'd be interesting to make a thread for it.

@doctor_rahmeh @KimDotcom Very interesting that you don’t identify the terrorist affiliations of the intended targets. It’s unfortunate that there may have been some unintended collateral casualties. My estimate is that it was far less than casualties these terrorists would have inflicted on Israelis

Mossad booby‑trapped 21,000 communication devices with explosives, sent them to Lebanon through shell companies, and detonated them remotely — killing dozens (including children) and injuring over 3,400. • The devices exploded in people's hands, on their faces, and in their pockets. • They did it over two consecutive days. • On day two, the explosives went off while Lebanese families were at the funerals of those killed the day before. • The attack inflicted roughly 3,000 injuries in a single hour on the first day alone. This terrorist attack was the largest simultaneous mass‑detonation in history by the number of individual bombs. 'israelis' joke about it to this day. If you didn't boycott Apple for the Congo, boycott it now.

🇸🇦 Saudi built 250 robotic umbrellas at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. Each one opens to the size of a small stadium floor. They track the sun automatically, close at night, and light up with LEDs.

@cenkuygur That’s provocative. How do you define Zionism? Please elaborate. Are you saying that Israel shouldn’t exist? The reality is that it does and it does so within a pluralistic, democratic framework unlike most of their neighbours.

@Shadow007US @JohnCleese Uhhh NO!! What the F does “ritually impure” even mean? Dogs are man’s best friend. Why does Islam hate dogs? I think they hate mankind because mankind loves dogs (and vice versa)

In Islamic tradition, dogs are often considered "ritually impure." Muslim activists are asking police with K9 units to not approach them because it's against their religion. ❓️: Should Police with K9 units respect their "religious beliefs?"
