The Win Streak Continues! 12 Straight! Game 1 saw the win streak nearly come to an end before freshman Levi Braun doubled in the bottom of the 7th to tie it up, 1-1 and head to extras. After Abilene scored one in the top of the 8th making it 2-1... in the bottom of the 8th, with 2 outs and runners on first and second... Levi Braun did it again driving another double to the wall, clearing the bases for the walk off. Great performances on the mound from @akunz2007 : 5IP, 5H, 1ER, and Sam Rogers: 3IP, 1H, 1ER (came in with the bases loaded, no outs, and gave up no runs. Game 2: Far less dramatic, thankfully. @nategally : 2-4, 2B, 2RBI @Macoy_moody09 : 2-3, RBI @BPoell29 : 1-1, 2 HBP (3 HBP on the night)

@BaseballDudes48 I think this is an important discussion. I pitched in high school and outfield in college. Coached high school baseball and now youth. I don’t think you are necessarily wrong. This is something I struggle with. I’ve seen kids extremely frustrated when they are walking kids.

@coachletsgo Not sure letting pitchers think walking batters is fine since they’ve throw hard. Not sure if you’re a baseball guy or have pitched but it’s a bad recipe that has hurt many from reaching their full potential.

One of the most painful things to watch is talented pitchers struggle getting consistent outs because they’ve been conditioned to think “velocity” matters most. Sure, it might be what gets you noticed first, and that alone may lead to more opportunities, but it’s NOT all that matters. Missing your target by FEET because you’re trying to throw everything harder than hard will lead to a high walk rate which will lead to less opportunities. Find that balance of controlled aggression and feel. Limit the walks, throw less pitches per batter, less pitches per inning, and you’ll get to throw more innings. BTW, this is a 🧠 thing, not a 💪🏼 thing.

@TJHannam10 It's especially hard for youth that can't express themselves like older kids can. I tend to try to cue them to move as athletic as possible and try to get as much self-organization as we can get.

@coachletsgo Good question. Looking at stats alone doesn't paint the whole picture. Example: Ton of K's, why? Missing a ton? Taking too many pitches? Hesitant? I typically talk to the hitter and use my eyes to judge what I'm seeing based on what I've evalauted from other elite hitters

The influx of hitters signing up to train with me remotely is at an all time high. "What are you doing to improve right now?" - I hit off front toss and maybe some machine "Are you working on anything specific?" - No, usually just hitting. "What do you want me to help you with the most?" - I hit hit hit but don't seem to get better. "You're struggling with XYZ in the game, are you working on that? - Not really. Damn that does make a lot of sense. ---- This is the conversation early every time. No purpose or focus on developing skills or movements. Just hitting. Same thing every time. Sometimes it works. And when it doesn't, you just going to keep doing it?
