After being diagnosed with cancer I made the fatal mistake of trying to fight it alone and not telling anyone. I was WRONG! This has been a community fight since I let people in. I want to thank God, wife, family, friends, UH Staff, coaches & athletes for the insane support! 🖤

Practice is the most misused word in any sport. Practice isn’t just showing up. It’s hard work, discomfort, challenges, failing, intensity. Practice is preparation; it’s training. There’re no secrets. The greatest players are in the gym the most & never try to fake it. They work!

If you want the fruit you must invest in the root. Don’t focus on the outcome. Focus on the process that leads to great outcomes.

In order to get comfortable at something you have to be uncomfortable at it first.

The very best teams are those that care deeply about doing their job very well, but have little care for getting all the individual accolades. The interesting thing about great teams is that the recognition always seems to be shared and when it needs to—gets to the right people.

No matter how educated, talented or rich you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all.

Lack of courage is responsible for more failure than lack of talent.

Talented, hardworking, dependable, humble people with high character make better teammates. Better teammates = better teams = better teams produce more wins.

Leaders need to be willing to listen to bad news. They need to be willing to hear uncomfortable truths. And they need to create a culture in the organization where everyone feels ok speaking up.

The quality of execution is dependent on the strength of the culture.

If we’re capable of doing a “better” job then we should never allow ourselves to settle for just a “good” job.

3 Truths About Leadership: 1. Leadership isn’t about gaining power. It’s about empowering others. 2. Great leaders succeed because they bring out the greatness in others. 3. You don’t have to be great to serve but you have to serve to be a great leader.

No Bad Body Language. No Complaining. No Excuses. I'm a firm believer that if you work as hard at enforcing these three principles as you do on X's & O's and film study, you'll set a solid foundation for success. I will live and die on that hill going forward. Positivity wins.

Talent won’t matter if it’s selfish or if it listens to everyone else besides the people in the locker room. Talent won’t matter unless it plays together. The level of talent on a team is worthless if everyone plays for themselves. If you want to WIN, it has to be about the TEAM!
