According to the Human Services Campus, there are 2,182 adult shelter beds in Maricopa County and 5,000 adults on the housing wait list. This is basic math: 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝.

I'm an investigative reporter by training. When I saw the AZ GOP claim there were *12,300* available shelter beds in Phoenix, I knew something was off. I called providers on the frontlines of this crisis every day who told me that is simply untrue. So, let's dig into the numbers.
