PAUSE HYDRATATION Les grands gagnants des pauses hydratation? Les entraîneurs. Moment idéal pour ajuster la stratégie. Remarquer les tendances ou faiblesses de l’adversaire. Dans un match de Coupe du monde où chaque détail compte, ces trois minutes peuvent parfois valoir autant qu’un temps d’arrêt dans d’autres sports.

Stephen Eustaquio is still such a good player. Honestly, it amazes me that he’s playing in MLS because I genuinely believe he has the quality to play in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues. Against Bosnia, he looked like the most mature player on the pitch for Canada. Everything he did felt calculated. Always composed, always making the right decision and constantly helping his team maintain structure in and out of possession. You can see immediately why he’s the captain. Such a complete midfield profile. Can progress play through carries, win duels, do the dirty work defensively, dictate tempo and then suddenly produce a line-breaking or final pass when the opportunity presents itself. Rarely forces actions, understands when to accelerate play and when to slow it down. The type of midfielder every coach loves because he improves the balance of the entire team. Genuinely a quality player. One of Canada’s most important players and still massively underrated in my opinion.

La performance d’Ismaël Koné lors du match de vendredi a démontré que le milieu québécois pourrait profiter des prochaines semaines pour franchir un palier important dans sa carrière. Vendu définitivement par Marseille à US Sassuolo en février dernier pour un montant total d’environ 13 M€ (achat et prêt), Koné a déjà vu sa valeur grimper de façon importante. Un tournoi simplement correct pourrait suffire pour qu’un club offre près de 25 M€ à Sassuolo pour un joueur qui fêtera ses 24 ans pendant la Coupe du Monde. Par contre, si le Canada connaît un parcours respectable et parvient à sortir de son groupe avec un Ismaël Koné influent au cœur du jeu, sa valeur pourrait très bien atteindre le seuil des 30 M€. Il ne faut pas oublier non plus que les Coupes du Monde créent souvent une pression inflationniste favorable aux clubs vendeurs. Imaginez un instant le Canada en huitième de finale ou mieux avec un Koné dominant, à l’image de celui aperçu contre l’Irlande. Dans un tel scénario, un transfert de 40 M€ ne serait pas du tout farfelu. #CanMNT
