immigration debate will go nowhere until we all come to terms it is deeply inhumane to have such massive differences in living standards across the globe and expect people to just accept that

I think a lot of you don’t actually see how courts function. Not all, but a lot. And I’m immediately skeptical of anyone, especially a supposed leftist, who jumps to “what about the murderers” when the state is violently enforcing corporate desires every day across every state

This might be one of the worst self inflicted wounds we could create. Even contemplating it causes damage. The strength of our economy has always come from taking the best and brightest of the world and putting them to work.

Only those who read books regularly will understand this feeling.

A prominent liberal is breaking with Mamdani over his new property database. Podcaster Scott Galloway says he discovered his own name and address were 'doxed' by the city's searchable database identifying affluent property owners. Galloway backed Mamdani's proposed pied-à-terre tax itself, but he argues publishing property owners' information turns a legitimate tax proposal into a "wanted poster." Galloway lamented that the New York City mayor was vindicating conservatives’ worst fears and "making it harder for all progressives." foxnews.com/media/liberal-…

BREAKING: Leading candidate for Wisconsin governor Francesca Hong antiwhite tweets exposed. She even laughed about teaching antiwhite slurs to her toddler

Ceuta and Melilla are located in Moroccan territory, as per US Congressional House Appropriations Committee document

You know before these special operators in Caracas Venezuela left the embassy they were like, "We're grey men just blending in. No one will know" 😂 Blend in accordingly... #CityLife #caracas #venezuela #LoVis #grayman #SOF

If centuries-old conquests are now fair game to challenge as ‘illegal occupations’ which other very long-standing territorial claims would you like to re-litigate?

Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez has just released a TikTok video in which he presents his favorite songs of the years so far… 🇪🇸

Luca Netz on growing up poor but seeing how billionaires lived every summer "We grew up really poor but my dad was an ex-tennis pro who taught tennis to all the billionaires in the Hamptons. On the summers I'd go there and see these really rich guys, tens of billions of dollars. I'd sleep in a hundred million dollar house with nine people staffing it and I was like, this life is way better, I want this life." "Most poor kids don't get that. The duality of spending most of my life having nervous breakdowns from being incredibly poor, and then these little pockets of seeing peak living, that duality was the motivation. Closed mouths don't get fed."

@VoicesfromNam So many Southerners in the Nam guess they were really trying to finish us off after 1865. Many of them were volunteers though.

Regime change neocons who thought anything in Iran was going to be geopolitically successful are utterly delusional. Venezuela an entirely different situation. You don't regime change an entire religion. It will never work.

I have my legs spread open and the first thing on your mind is murder?

The problem is that the word is caregiver and not caregivers. We have made caring for loved ones a solitary activity - see stay-at-home moms - with the choice being between one family caregiver or outsourced care. Maybe AI will free up our time so that we can get back to the business that matters most.

Right now, there is a trial happening in Boston that is being televised where a mother with postpartum psychosis killed her 3 young children before slashing her own wrists and jumping out of a second floor window, which ended up paralyzing her from the waist down. Her psychosis took off after the birth of her 3rd child, right before she was scheduled to return to work as a labor and delivery nurse. She was being treated with medication, daily appointments with her doctors and a stint at McLean Psychiatric Hospital. She is the one who begged for help. She committed this crime on the day her husband left the house for 1/2 hour to get groceries because she seemed to be doing better. The fact that this woman is on trial when she was clearly out of her mind is unconscionable. The fact that she, her husband and even the first responders are being forced to relive the event is also unconscionable. One of the jurors asked to be removed because he couldn’t handle it. Out of all the things though, the most unconscionable of unconscionable things is the way we treat mothers and their babies in this country. From @taprootbirth “Postpartum depression is a condition affecting the neurotransmitters in a person's brain. It is also caused by lack of presence, care and community. In many traditional cultures it is taught that a new mother should never be left alone with her babies. She needs the co-regulation of wise women/people. She needs grounded humans who feed her, make sure she is hydrated, clean her sink, brew her tea, ladle her soup, and play with her other children. Someone to sit with her, share stories, and make her laugh. Help her remember she is human. A mother who is left alone with her babies postpartum has the cognitive impact of a person who has survived war. Her body thinks she has been abandoned by her community.” If there is something good to come out of this, let it be the end of the expectation that caregiving is something that we consider as a last priority after all the other things. Because it’s fucking time.

@T_connifer No, I reject that premise. If you reduced housing costs by half it would not meaningfully reduce the amount of NYers living on the street. Those people have access to housing and reject it.
