India will never build the next OpenAI. It's not possible. Putting infra aside anyone who has worked in ML at any position will know that AI isn't an engineering problem it's a data problem. We may have the best minds in the world but as long as US owns our data, India isn't getting very far ahead in this race. Which is sad considering an Indian mind was behind Transformers in the first place.
