A look back: On Oct. 16, 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. enthralled a crowd of more than 6,000 with a 35-minute speech at what was then called Campus Stadium (now Hornet Stadium). The racial justice and civil rights giant made his Sac State stop while touring college campuses across the country and planning the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign. With an incoming presidential administration promising hardline immigration policies, Sacramento State’s approximately 500-600 undocumented students face renewed challenges on their path to graduation.
