I have serious concerns about the potential inclusion of a provision for the large-scale sale of public lands in the reconciliation bill being considered in the Senate. There may be limited cases where underused or inaccessible land could better serve nearby communities, but these decisions should be made with caution, transparency, and local input. Public lands are public for a reason, and we must ensure that we preserve the ability to access and enjoy them for future generations of Americans.

California is the fourth-largest economy, the most diverse state in the most diverse democracy, and a leader in technology and innovation BECAUSE of immigrants. Immigrants are what make our state great and they are what make this country great.

More than 16 million acres of public land could be for sale in California if Republicans pass their Big Ugly Bill.   Ridiculous.   Keep public lands in public hands. axios.com/local/san-dieg…
