If I may say something about the “Where did the tithe go?” question. Sir, church is expensive to run in Nigeria. Most churches do not even have a permanent building. For example, CCI was using Balmora Hall in Ikeja before they moved to their current venue last year. I am not entirely sure, but Balmora costs around ₦2 million for about two hours. That is roughly ₦8 million per month, about ₦96 million per year, just for the venue alone. What about energy costs? A 20kVA Mikano generator takes about 99 liters of diesel to fill. That is roughly ₦100,000 per refill. What about infrastructure for sound and music? Let’s not even go there. A DJI Osmo gimbal costs about ₦700,000. Brother, that is just ONE gimbal. It can fit inside a medium-sized bag. I used the gimbal just to give you a sense of scale. A pastor friend of mine bought one Shure microphone for ₦1,200,000. A Yamaha keyboard can cost around ₦2,500,000. The entire sound and camera setup for a church like CCI could easily approach ₦1 billion. You may think that is too much. But at minimum, two main cameras would be focused on the preacher. A Sony FX6 camera body alone costs about ₦8,600,000. That does not include the lens. I will stop here. I have only mentioned location, power, and sound. I have not talked about logistics. One crusade, just one, can make ₦100 million look small. You know those red church chairs? One is 27,000 naira. That is 27 million naira for just 1,000 members. Let’s not even talk about welfare for members. Yes, churches can improve in supporting members materially. That is fair. But churches that are not in the top 5 percent are genuinely struggling to stay afloat. To keep a church running in Nigeria costs money. It is not easy. In all of this, I have not mentioned pastors’ salaries. They have families, children, rent, and responsibilities too. Lastly, what I will advise churches to do is publish their financial statements. The church I attend does that. You can request it anytime. My pastor would rather die than take ₦5 from the church’s account dishonestly. So, the question of where the tithe goes is answered in the summary above. Church in Nigeria is expensive.

When I was in Nigeria, I never missed my monthly tithe. When I got to the UK, I sent tithe to my home church about twice, then stopped. My mom called me about not sending tithe to the home church anymore. I told her we don’t pay tithe in the UK, and even offering isn’t compulsory. I also told her we eat every Sunday, and there’s a place you can pick up free food if you don’t have any at home. All the tithe we paid in church in Nigeria where did it go? There was never a time we had food for the poor or a room where food was kept. Isn’t that the essence of tithe? Her response was: “You are backsliding.” 😂

If you said 60’s or 70’s. By the 80s, Nigeria was already going through Structural Adjustment Program (SAP). The oil boom had ended in 1978 and that is why ASUU was created. Their welfare was hampered by that time. The currency was devalued and inflation caught up with even lecturers. This led to incidences of burglaries and vandalism in universities. The welfare of lecturers took a nose dive and it was during that period that Babaginda tried to reduce the power of ASUU by creating SSANU.

The social media age gap thing is showing under this tweet..... People don't understand how PRESTIGOUS and HIGHLY respected being a LECTURER was in the 80s. That era that Nigerian Academics were highly sought after. In the 80s, it is considered suicidal to leave LECTURING as PhD holder and go and become Pastor

@AndrewJ91077224 @aale_xander Buddhism and some other religions teach this but it isn't found in God's word. No, you are not coming back to this world when you leave. If reincarnation is a reality in God's word, we don't need to preach salvation.

I just finished reading an amazing chapter of the Bible and learned something that I have never heard before. Did you know that Elijah came 2 times ? He was in the Old Testament and in New Testament. Yeah,, John the Baptist was actually Elijah himself. Read Mathew chpt 17:11-13 😳 I’m not talking about Elijah appearing with Moses in the New Testament.

If I am a coward though, I wouldn’t be bold enough to make stands you both are convulsing about. A coward will do things to be in your good books. If you keep moving untamed in my comments, will press the block button for you both. Support your pastor in peace, don’t force other people to do same.

The people attending the church believe in their pastor, so, you also have no right to say what they are doing is not the same. That is the irony; only fools doubt in the presence of irrefutable proof. If people have reservations about your pastor’s ministry, you don’t silence them raising concerns about their salvation. Show them irrefutable testimony about your pastor ministry instead.

@TolulopeAyeni There's no biblical basis for miracles needing 'specific conditions.' Jesus healed everywhere; homes, streets, temples, pools where the sick gathered. He promised to be present wherever believers gather (Matthew 18:20). So why not hospitals?

Unintelligent response, the question should be about verifiable evidence of healings not the location where the healings took place. Let’s say you are correct (you are actually wrong) about miracles not happening in hospitals in response to believing prayer - even in science, there are conditions and environments in which certain things happen and you won’t nullify them because you haven’t seen it happen in some other environments and conditions.
chief sọm@chisomholic

Pastors heal the sick everywhere except in hospitals, where real sick people exist. Any miracle that cannot be replicated in a random environment is staged. Consult all the doctors/nurses you know, the total number of times healing has taken place in their hospitals is ZERO.

This will shock you. But I will share the story nonetheless. I once read an article few years ago that when the TV healings became ubiquitous on Nigerian television and many innocent people were falling prey to religious fraudsters, the Nigerian television authority NTA mandated a strict rule that before any ‘supernatural healing’ is broadcasted, there must be an objective, hospital-verified evidence of the illness and cure before and after the purported healing. You had to show hospital evidence that the person was sick before prayers and hospital evidence that the person had been cured after prayers before it can be broadcasted on the NTA. This was to rule out actors, impostors and fraudsters from deceiving people. Suddenly almost no church/pastor could meet the NTA requirement and they simply started showing their “healings” on their privatised channels where they completely control what they show and nobody verifies what they claim. It was saddening but interesting at the same time.
