Only one-third of “high-potential startups” created in 2024 are still headquartered in Canada in 2025. Half of those companies have fled to the US. The data is bad, but numbers don't tell the whole story. So I spoke with a founder who is living that story. Nain Abdi (@nain_abdi) is the incredibly charismatic and energetic co-founder of @colareai. He was frank about what pulled his company south, why his peers are eager to make a similar leap, and what (if anything) could convince him to return to Canada. I strongly encourage everyone in #CDNtech to pay close attention to how Nain describes the way young founders are treated in Canada vs. the Valley.
