Lucky today to see a fly past over Wellington of the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s C-130H Hercules. The iconic aircraft have been retired from service after 60 years and have been flying over the country as their final farewell.

A short walk from the road to Marokopa Falls then on to the black sands of Marokopa Beach with Waitomo Caves later. #NewZealand is truly beautiful.

Dad was not a remarkable man by any means but he was solid, dependable and loyal both in his working life and at home. He commented just before he died that 'I have had a good life' and I firmly believe that he did. Reunited with Mum and Mark.

working for his fathers construction business. Dad was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would always want updates on progress.

A short 🧵 We lost Dad back in June and today would have been his 89th birthday. Dad was very proud of his National Service and it is thanks to him that I have an interest in military history.

The cement works dominates the town but this morning it caught the sunlight in a way I have never seen before just for a fleeting moment.

Cycling in Hereford/Gloucestershire borders this weekend the highlight being St Mary’s Church, Kempley. Owned by @EnglishHeritage it contains medieval wall paintings from the 12th century. Covered during the reformation and rediscovered in 1872 they are extraordinary.

Following in the footsteps of family members today we stopped off at a farm that had been a Division collection point for casualty evacuation. The farmer was generous with his time and produced some artefacts to look at. With @Sophie_1WWTours

Homeward bound after three glorious days on the battlefields. Le Touret Memorial, Newfoundland Park, Caterpillar Crater and Vancouver Corner. Good to be working with a couple of uni friends.

I have just returned from a week in Normandy for @NatGeo on what proved to be a very emotional tour. Good to meet @SeaSpitfires along the way and get a signed copy of his excellent book Sword Beach.

Just had a phone call from the Royal Marsden. As I suspected, the 3cm lump in my liver is cancerous. It may or may not relate to my tennis ball but chemotherapy is very much on the cards, with the possibility of involvement in clinical trials. A biopsy is also a possibility.
