Few weeks ago, I and a select few media were the "bad guys" for questioning Darryn Peterson. Tonight, his own coach called him out. Not sure if he hates to compete, only wants to play when he's 100 percent healthy - but his behavior is *not* normal. It hasn't been all year

@psa2rpa Because I’ve been there. I’ve had the same pressure as DP to play through illness/injury and family death. I understand what he’s going through and until you’ve lived those feelings you won’t ever understand. So why wouldn’t I defend him?

@BoomerJanowski @Aaron_Torres I’m a fan just like you and want to see him play but to put him out there sick/injured isn’t fair. Still waiting for coaches/teammates to say anything negative about the guy. He has insurance policy so draft doesn’t matter much (to me)

DP Revitalization Story took a hit tonight. Even if he’s got flu symptoms don’t you get an IV and shot and go play 4 minutes? Make sure announcers know you’re sick. Go throw up during timeout and then check yourself out for rest of game. At least everyone will respect the effort.

@Aaron_Torres You had no problem questioning if he was injured of not so I felt it was safe to think you would question his competitiveness since he didn’t play 2nd half of a game they won.

@colea45 Where did I question his competitiveness? I just said I wouldn't take him No. 1 overall - especially in a draft where there are three other elite talents, who *no one* questions their competitiveness (Wilson, Dybantsa, Boozer)

@franfraschilla @KUHoops Fran, people want to point a finger at a guy instead of celebrating a team who has continued to achieve greatness through adversity. Game doesn’t get postponed because a guy is hurt/sick. Guys step up and kick ass like they did. Thats wtf you do at Kansas.

Who knows how the Darryn Peterson saga ends at @KUHoops but Melvin Council, Jr.’s spirit will live on in Kansas long after he leaves. He’s left his indelible print on his one season.

@Aaron_Torres Please don’t question a guys competitiveness. You loose to UNC (top 25), UConn (5th), Duke (5th), UCF (bad loss). I too am a fan and want to see him play but to say he should play through injury or illness is potentially making him get more injured

@colea45 I dont think it's "creating a narrative" by saying that he sat out arguably Kansas' three most high-profile games (Arizona, UConn, Duke) and didn't even *attempt* to come back in as his team was blowing a 20-point lead in the second half vs. BYU. Those are just facts, brother 👍

It's not that big of a deal to me if he can play the last month of the season. We've got guys in the NBA who miss 2 months with a strained hamstring. A lot of guys would have shut him down for the rest of the season already. People have to pump the brakes. People get the flu. People also have to remember this is just a small snapshot of his entire career. I think he's still probably the No. 1 pick, but we'll see."
